I don't think I've ever seen even a Savage rifle that was that ugly.

Just got back from Idaho on a week long hunt for muleys, no luck , snow kept them bedded down and hardly a thing was movin except for the elk, and me with no elk tag

getting one next year. Anyway I'm shooting a winchester model 70 supershadow in 7mm WSM, sightron up top,with barnes triple shock mrx pills in 140 grain with 58 grn of reloader 19. My back up gun or my close range(oh out to 200yrds) I'll use my 60's(can't remmber exactly what year) remington model 742 Woodsmaster in 30-06 with open sights with 180 core-lockt pills. Found it last year at the gun show new in the box for $550

If I miss with the first all I gots to do is pull the trigger again.

My theory is that if you buy a stainless/synthetic Savage rifle, you'll know it's accurate and you won't care if it gets scraped or scratched because it's already ugly. Not having to worry about either lets you concentrate on hunting. Now I just have to convince myself to take the Savage out instead of the old Mauser.

Okay here it is - Steyer SSG 69 in .308 with double set triggers, Zeiss 3 - 12 X 56 MM illuminated reticles and Federal Premium in 165 gr. Nosler.

Well, we got 'er done. Went out yesterday along the Utah-Wyoming border with the high power gun and got an antelope. The 6.5-250 put it down in one shot at 225 yards with the Accubond. The CG Universal trigger helped. So did keeping the gun locked up the night before.

What's your deer rifle?
