JUST MY OPINION

Post by Evelio Mc Donald »

This web site was pretty good for new and old Silhouette shooters, with all kind of good information, but as of lately, it looks more like a big BS source, with very little related to shooting.
Sometimes a good thread get started, and then it turns again into another BS section totally unrelated to the subject.
There is a good section in the FORUM for just plain BS why not use that for your personal BS and leave the rest for people looking for information or help related to shooting.
I know I probably will piss off some of you guys, and I consider you all friends, but personally I am getting tired of the silly BS.
Just my opinion.
Evelio.

The site has definately gotten a little clique-y.
Gun and technique talk definately hold my attention as thats more of what I'm looking for.

Perhaps if it were more confined to the "clubhouse" forum than being pervasive throughout...........
Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!

I agree with that observation.

Take the T-Bone on Fire thread. He was on fire what 72 days ago and 24 pages of threads later. Great for him but isn't it time to move on?

I really wish there was more shooting talk going on etc. I realize many people here know each other well but some of the threads just are totally mindless and go nowhere fast. It is almost as if people post just to get their post counts up or something.

Perhaps BSing with friends would be best served up in PM's or limited to the Clubhouse as mentioned. While many do indeed know others personally for the outsider visiting it has to come across as pointless dribble.

I agree. This Tbone thread has become a pimple on the ass of this fine forum. Whether a goofy way to relieve wintertime boredom or perhaps a satirical jab at how dull we have become, this thread has morphed into a self-feeding entity. I'm sure ol'Tbone meant no offense and would probably advise against reading it; kind of like changing the station when Howard Stern comes on. Let's get back to giving good shooting information. Anybody have any?

i totally agree EMcD. sadly i read all the posts' replies when they start out about some thing i need to know and some times some one posts a real reply on pages 16 21 and 37 that is useful .i would hesitate to say that the moderators might want to close threads that get wayyyy off topic. but perhaps that is the soloution.

if memory serves this inside off topic long windedness is why a lot of folks stopped posting on RFC and greybush in the first place and made SC their home.

Yesterday before logging in, I hesitated to check out the site due to what you have posted. I did check in then read your post and didn't answer, wanted to consider the thread.

I think we all have what in fly fishing is referred to as the "Shack Nastys" IE too much snow not enough fishing, or in this case shooting. And locked up inside. At least fly fishers have fly tying, and rod building, but how much reloading can you realy do?

I think before we post, we should ask ourselves, does this comment need saying, does it add to the topic, or is it a personal commentary, If it doesn't add to the topic or need saying then it is hijacking the thread and should be taken elsewhere.

Just my thoughts

First, I agree that too many promising threads have degenerated into BS too soon. And yes, I know I'm guilty, and will be more careful about that going forward.

But (yes, I always do that) it is an opportunity for many of us, that don't get to travel much, to "meet" other shooters we have only heard about. You, Evelio, Mary, Kitty, Marv, Ducky, Tony Telo(!?) that are all legends we might never meet. Take the "rivalry" between Mary and me - is she going to spank me thoroughly the next time we meet? Duh! Unless she's really off and I'm really on, I'm buying her dinner! So how is that a loss for me? Worst case, I buy dinner for a veteran and get to learn something!

If we all keep in mind the 'Club House' was set up for general BSing and 'Behind the Berm' was for the older and not the young sensitive ears it will be OK. I agree everyone is bored and forgets, but its' also a social gathering place among friends and that's where the fine line comes in.

I don't agree with having a moderator censure post or people as that is what killed the GB forum.

Just try and keep the chatter in the right bucket.

Glad to see this thread... On this forum, I rarely take the time to filter through the stuff to see if there is any viable silhouette information anymore. Do wish folks were using this forum to discuss the subject matter.
