My first time on the newly designed site ....nice job, guys . Thought I would take a break from swimming, snorkeling, surfing, boogie boarding, kayaking, hiking, bungee jumping off bridges, fishing, skydiving, touring the north island, eating...etc. and share a few photos with you all. Arrived here last Sat. am (Fri. in the states). I met up with Sean S. (aka 1 armoured) and his fellow airgun shooters for their monthly Field Target air gun match on Sunday.
The weather was perfect for the match, warm with light breezes. I have never shot an airgun match before. We were shooting at rat and squirrel resetables out to 40 meters. Sean was kind enough to lend me his real nice (forgot the model - brand) .22 cal. rifle. It was a very accurate PCP rifle , it hit where it was aimed. And with plenty of power, too. Thank you Sean for all the hospitality.
Thanks also to Jeff 59 for providing a dozen Steelchickens.com hats to pass out. The top shooters in the first match recieved the hat of their choice.
My wife and I are down here visiting my oldest daughter and her husband for about eight days. They are in New Zealand on job re assignment for a few years.
Well, time to go. Got to go have some more fun in the sun. Be back home this Sunday night.

Glad you're having fun, it's beautiful there and wish I could get a two year assignment there or in Sydney. The one Air rifle in the case, if thats the one you are talking about is an Air Arms EV2 ( http://www.straightshooters.com/Air%20Arms/ev2.html ) and one of the top of the line air rifles for field target.
Enjoy the vacation!

McAlice, Why is it that you can put a postcard on SC, but can't answer an e-mail that I sent you a week ago?

My worst nightmare came true....spent 12 hours on a 747 right next to a 2 year old brat. Sara would not trade seats with me. I hope I never have grand kids.

McAlice, My only hope is that, the kid that you had to sit next to, had a dirty diaper and her mother didn't bother to change it!

No Bob....did not get any. I did see several road kills, though. Not a pretty sight.

Re: Postcard
Glad you enjoyed your day out, Bob.
Great to meet you and your family.
Let us know if there is anything that we can do for you, at any time, as I know it's difficult when you're away so far from family.
The rifle you shot with was a Falcon FN19 SW, single shot sporter in Walnut, .22, and putting out about 26ft/lbs .
It propells a 16gr pellet at around 900fps.
We were all very impressed with your ability to pick up strange gear, and knock all those targets down.
Well done.
We all enjoyed your company, and they love the pics that you've posted.
Just a shame that we couldn't put on a silhouette match for you.
You just weren't here long enough.
cheers,
and everyone says thanks to you and Jeff for the hats.
Maybe next time bring Mary down here with you as well.
I'm sure Florida could do with a break

Re: Postcard
Sean,
As a native Floridian I can only say Florida is broken. Now I will agree that there is a co-worker that feels he could use a break from my Quality managing , but there is a slight problem....I know the system he is trying to work and do not tolerate any falsifying of documents, and having been born and raised here my knowledge and 18+ years un the field can get to be difficult to argue with.
Besides, I've already been gone a week in San Antonio, learning how to really raise trouble with regard to ISO 17025, and the travelling season of shooting is about to start next month.

Re: Postcard
Hi Sean, we really enjoyed our visit to New Zealand. I would consider living there except for one problem.....no highpower silhouette to be had in the entire country. A deal breaker for sure. However, those sweet airguns you all were using might just be the ticket to satisfy my highpower addiction.
Nah....no way.
We have a great airgun forum here on Steelchickens. Try and get a few of your fellow shooters to sign up as members. No doubt they would greatly add to the quality of the forum with their extensive knowledge and experiance. A good sense of humor is a must, though.
I am not sure if NZ is ready for another visit from Innocent Mary.
Regards, Bob.

Re: Postcard
A .50 cal. airgun sounds interesting, Bob. But, how is 500 meter ram performance with one? Will it reliably knock down hard set targets ?
