Poll-One rifle or two?

This is what we do.

What do you feel is best if shooting both classes at a match?

two guns in each. like i said in the clubhouse on a similar post, this game is mental and it is my personal belief that most of shooters out there aren't mentally capable of shooting two guns, ie; it's too hard to get used to two different stocks and two different weights of the trigger and the gun, bs. Most if not all of the master shooters I know shoot two guns. I'm a master in hunter and standard and have only been shooting this sport ofr a little over two years and I have always used two guns. To me these posts about using one gun and changing the rules is all about that person not having enough confidence or skill to shoot both types of guns. This game is about skill and who wouldn't want to challenge themselves to be a better shooter. if you feel you cant shoot two guns or cant afford to shoot two guns leave the people who can alone. It seems like your trying to get the rules changed for your own gain and not that of the sport. Why is it that you never hear master shooters ask if there should be just a one gun rule, its always the AA and AAA shooters who bring up the subject? Just my own personal beliefs on the subject

Who's talking about changing the rules Shakes? Last I checked NRA isn't changing rules based on a request for people's opinions here. Unless I heard wrong, Sanchez switched to shooting his hunter gun for both classes this past year, so I doubt if its just about skill........

I'm just one of those unskilled guys that has a hard time adapting between a 10oz trigger and a 2lb trigger in two different relays. There are lots of good shooters at the matches I attend locally, and there's a pretty good mix of folks that shoot two guns and those that shoot one for both.

Sheesh, I guess there's enough folks out there that still consider a quality hunter rifle a "cheater rifle" that I probably should keep my MSR, just in case we get switched to a "offhand bench custom rifle" class and an "off the shelf" class. However the number of rifle manufacturers that are putting out high quality hunting rifles today makes it hard to claim that even Lilja barreled 1712s in Robertson stocks have much edge over what can be had "off the shelf".
Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!

At the club where I shoot, (St Louis Benchrest Club), there are a lot of folks who ONLY shoot standard rifle. Basically no-one shoots only in the hunter class. A lot of guys have "standard" rifles (anything from a tricked out 10/22 up to a 54.18 MSR) which do not qualify for hunter.

A few shoot both classes with 1 rifle, and fewer still shoot 2 different rifles. The majority, however, only shoot 1 class, and that is standard rifle.

Come to think of it, Evelio, Marv & Butch probably like the idea of two...

I'm sure that for many people, a $2-2.5k (or more?) Franken54 will do just fine in both classes. I would not have changed the hunter away from what it was. But now that it is changed, I am even more against making rifles illegal this year that were fine last year. As I've said here before, that happened twice to me on guns I owned or were about to buy. I like my 54-18 and it was paid for twelve years ago. Were I to shoot a lot more I might move up from the NS-522 on hunter. If anyone I run across in Michigan has a 1712 it would be interesting to try out.
