Leupold EFR question

Post by old sparky »

I mounted a leupold EFR 6,5 x 20 on my CZ today. Man was I disappointed when I screwed on the sun shade. It looks terrible, I cant believe the fit is so poor. I searched around on the forum and see I am not alone. Did anyone ever come up with a aftermarket sunshade? I saw on a old post someone was making a adapter was that a one time deal? Any help would be appreciated.
thanks, Old Sparky

We bought a couple of the "new" Leupolds and found the same thing. I had a master machinest make some aluminum adapter rings to allow us to use the older Leupold shades on the new scopes. These are bare aluminum without any anodizing.

I have about 10 and will sell them for $20 each shipped to the lower 48.

Coates has some adapter rings that McAlice made. PM me if interested.

Speaking of adapters, I need one made to use a Leupold 50-foot adapter on my Weaver T24 to use for short range practice and dryfire practice. Does anyone know the inside/outside diameters and thread pitches and such? Calls to both manufacturers got the telephone equivalent of blank stares and the machine shop that I called wasn't sure they had anything that could measure thread pitch accurately on something that size with such fine threads.

You up for the task, McAlice? I can ship both my Weaver sunshade and Leupold 50-foot adapter to use to use to test and pay for the work and shipping back. Then you'll have the dimensions to make more and sell. :)

Jason,
For a Weaver Grand Slam, I threaded the Leupold adapter in a Butler Creek objective cover. It worked well, and it was easy to do. I use the same method on a Bushnell 4200.

Thanks, Ter. I hadn't thought of that. Right now I'm using electrical tape. Thanks! :)
