Pics of new toys

Post by jneihouse »

Just picked up my backup rifle from Chiken George in Little Rock yesterday. Chicen was kind enough to transport her from Zwolle where he had picked it up from Evelio. This is the second rifle that Evelio McDonald has built for me and since the girls are back together I thought I'd share a pic with you all.

The gun on the bottom is my 54:18 in a RT/S Pharr stock red fade to black, with a #53 taper Lilja tight bore stainless barrel. Pharr bottom metal, BKL rings, Pharr trigger shoe and one of Chidens T-24 Weavers topping it off. 8 lbs 5 ozs, 2 lb + 5018 trigger. Shoots very well.

The gun on the top I gave Evelio a free hand to build as he would build for himself. Anschutz 1710 action two stage trigger 2lbs+ total weight on trigger, Pharr RT/S red vermont granite stock, Lilja #53 taper tight bore fluted barrel, flutes painted red to match stock, brownells tatical bolt knob, also painted red to match rifle, silver BKL mounts, Marvin Pearson bottom metal scope is yet another of Chikens T-24 Weavers, gun comes just under 8 1/2 pounds. Haven't shot it yet (day ain't over though) but this is the gun Evelio refers to in his post concerning the gun he just built that shot 3 dimes sized groups at 100 yards, so I expect it to be a shooter.

Guys like Evelio McDonald, Mark Pharr, Marvin Pearson, and Wayne Merrier are creating functional works of art. I appreciate their level of craftsmanship and their dedication to the sport of silhouette shooting that has brought us this highest evolution of the silhouette rifle.

John,

I still think you should hang some fuzzy dice off the barrel and maybe add a little fur carpet on the sides, diggle balls around the scope bell could possible be the final touch.

Anybody know of a spinner trigger guard.......LMFAO

Try to catch me rid'in dirty

Jealousy is an ugly thing.
I saw that new rifle at Zwolle and kept quiet about it 'til Jon could unveil it. I guess he'll be able to spot it on the rack.
Ya know, Jon, if I had that rifle and you had your foot in a bucket of manure, we'd both be steppin' out.

Wow. Isn't it traditional to save those kinds of things for Easter? Now you have to stare at them all winter!

Post by Evelio Mc Donald »

OK James, I kind of smell some kind of jealousy, I saw your eyes open up real big, when you look at it Zwolle. By the way don't give me to many ideas, I might try them, the dices sound good, they could be used as wind flags. Did you finish that goog Scotch yet ?????
Sorry John, I guess will never hear the end from Culpepper.

Evelio,

I would not say I am jealouse per say, my eyes were open wide because I thought that that for once the right gun has fallen into the right hands and with a few mods it will match his peronnallity to a tee, as John has said before life is to short to shoot an ugly gun and spend time looking for it on the line. In my case I have gone with black and blue and that's just the way I feel after a match. Never had a goog scotch, the one in question has since gone the way of the septic tank, but only after a highly tuned filtration process......LMAO

John,

You are the trend setter.....for whom I'm not sure, but at any rate a trend setter. I think you should at a minimum powder coat the rings and trigger guard the same red. The greatest compliment to a persons equipment is to let them know now that's you. John that's you.

With that said Evelio do you think you can come up with a spinner trigger guard kinda like those hub caps they are putting on cars nowdays....LMAO

Ok James, Evelio is going to coat the rings and bottom metal on mine during the off season. Don't give everyone so many ideas. Besides John still would need a red scope, guess he will have to call Chicken and order one of the new 6.5 x 20 EFR's anadized red!!! OR do you know anyone that allready has a red Luopold, oh whai that would be me!!

Paul,

Another fine example of personallity personified, that is why I thought the wood stock Pharr 40X was just a little subdued for you.

Simetimes being a trend setter is just marching to the beat of a drummer that no one hears but you........May powdercoat the bottom metal all but an oval on the flat....Engrave "Kitty" on that spot......Finish it off with a bobble head windspeed indicator for the top of the scope.....um um...sessssexy.......

James, I can have the spinner istalled tonight. But will that be concidered an attachment? Would not want to add something that would make my gun fall out side the intent of the rules.
