Lefty silhouette options

I have been shooting in our local club for a few years now, but we do not shoot by the NRA rules. I would like to shoot in the hunter class at some NRA matches, but my current rifles only fit into the standard class. What options does a lefty have for a hunter class rifle if price is not an object, but value and quality are?

I guess if money wasn't a problem, I guess 1712 in a custom synthitic stock.

Does the 1712 come in a left handed version? I have never seen one.

1. buy a 1907 barreled action, have a Lilja ...or Douglas...or? barrel put on and put it in a Pharr/Wooster stock.
2. buy a 2013 and repeat above.
3 buy an 1827 barreled action and put a Lilja...etc barrel on it and put it in a Pharr stock. (what I did.....)
4. buy a CZ452 American and restock it.
5. 1416 and restock or rebarrel it.
6. find an old lefty Rem 581 and see above.
7. give up and shoot a right handed gun.

If you go with the single shot Anschutz action, there is a guy who can make it a repeater.
If you want to be unique, do the Fortner.
If you want to save a bit, the 1416 uses the same trigger as the 1712 but has a slower lock time. Still a good gun.
if you want best bang for the buck, go with the CZ.
you might have a bit of trouble making weight with the 2013.
put your favorite right bolt gun in a lefty stock.

I like my Fortner, but if I could have done the 1907 conversion first, life would have been simpler.......it is a disease.

Evelio's building if for one of the local shooters who now shoots a 1710 really well. I don't know how he does it, I know I couldn't shoot a lefty gun. He can't wait to get something that fits him.

There are a couple of more options, but the ones I listed were ones I tried. Currently I am playing with a IZH Biathalon Basic that Mac Tilton converted to a left bolt. I left the original barrel on it, and I've been playing with the stock. The trigger isn't adjustable like the higher priced IZH Biathalons, but it is an interesting action similar to the Browning T-bolt. I also played with the new and old T-bolts. The new one with the heavy barrel shoots very well but the plastic trigger group is depressing. I made a new trigger spring and have a decent 2lb trigger. The old T-2 just doesn't seem to shoot well enough to mess with. Although I might play with it later. ahhhh so many guns, so little time.......Left handed Kimbers and Coopers. I shot one of each and haven't gotten around to those either. I've only ever seen one left handed Kimber for sale. The Coopers seem well made. I've shot a couple. Mikal's is nice.

I hear Coopers seem well made, and the stocks are nice, but I don't hear much about how they shoot. Annies always seem to get the nod when you start talking about accuracy. I have a 54MS and a 64MS in left hand, but you don't see many hunter class rifles in left out there. I have not been looking long, but I have never seen a lefty Kimber. Where do you rank a Cooper squirrel rifle in accuracy?

Geez Evelio, I didn't mean anything bad about sweet Mary. I was awed by her high numbers.....

Paul Freeman had one of the old Coopers made for silhouette. I think it shot well, but the LOP was 13 1/2 inches or so. Pete Aubin had a couple of JSR's and they also shot well. They reminded me of the Kimber. (not the HS) Some one who has one should be able to speak for their attributes. There is a gentleman who shoots with us occasionally and he has an old lefty Kimber.

I think one of the reasons is the Annies are made for the game. I would love to get ahold of a FWB 2700, but that's a lot of cash. I shot one in a 3p stock and loved the trigger. Very slick.
