Bob:
Not sure yet where I come down on this issue. I do know that a 175 SMK(7mm) is superior to a 142 SMK(6.5) or Lapua (Tubb does not seem to believe their BC numbers and I find them hard to believe). The thing that is really nice is that the 7mm 175 SMK holds its .608 BC from 2100 fps upward. The migration of F-Class top shooters to 7mm from 6.5mm pretty well shows the superiority of the 7mm. I guess these guys don't notice the recoil as much when they are prone? Or maybe they just want to win?
I hope none of these 6.5 fans are comparing 6.5 107's since your 7mm 150 SMK pretty well kicks butt from both a SD and BC perspective.
The one thing that keeps coming back to me is barrel life and it just seems that the 7mm will come out way on top on this. I guess I will know sometime in the future when my 6.5x47 ultimately burns up.
Recoil is so subjective and psychological that we must all experiment as to what works for us. I suggest you start a remedial recoil management school, maybe Beckley can be your first successful student????

Good post, Jim. All this back and forth on the 6.5 vs. 7mm I'm sure is keeping some future HP shooters perched up on the fence. You really cant go wrong with any of the popular silhouette cartridges. Another good trait of the 6.5's is they are ideal for a woman or beginning youth shooter.

Goatru, Make sure that you and the other 7-08 users bring plenty of ammo, so us 6.5 shooters can get our "Man Card" punched, by shooting a few rounds.

We are....would appreciate the saving of spots...Was having to wait on Pharr to decide if he was going or not to work out the shooter/spotter thing because of the way the match rolls...he finally bailed so it's me and mini shooting, and Miss Kitty boarding the party buss.

Re: St.Louis MO HP Regional Match
I'm looking forward to shooting this match again and seeing old aquaintances and meeting new, but...even more so to stopping at Biffles BBQ in Concordia !!. Ever since Pat O. turned us on to this joint we stop in for grub to and from the match. I am bringing a big doggy bag to the range to snack on between relays. And some wet naps to get the sauce off the stock grip. Probably the best damn advise Pat ever gave me. Maybe I will leave the sauce on the cheekpiece for a better weld.

Too bad you wont be getting any of this fine roadhouse cuisine, JB. We'll be thinking of you while your chewing on your airline crackers.

McAlice...that is peanuts, not crackers.
Commander Kitty...you know I would show up eventually but I have Tennessee States on Sat, so call 259 if it is on Saturday. GO TPK!!!
Would love to be there just to watch the bantering between the Guru and JB, should be an interesting weekend.
Good luck to all, and you may as well just start bowing to the mini Kitty when she arrives cuz she's gonna kick your rear ends JB and Guru!!!

Dont you worry Mary, I got a plan. I will just offer Mallory one of my Biffles baby back ribs."Hey there little girl, try one of these".
She'll be gettin sauce all over her pink shirt, ammo, spotting scope and score card. John will be giving her heck......
I hope she does whoop up on us.
Glad to see that hot spell is finally clearing out.
