Silhouette match this Sunday at TR&RC

Post by twcooke »

The match is this Sunday, May 16th. Set up at 9:00am, sight in at 10:00am, shooters meeting at 10:45am and the match begins at 11:00am. We shoot till everyone is done, tear down and go have a late lunch. We will be shooting on the Airgun sight in range at the Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club. To limit target damage, all air guns are limited to no more than 20 foot pounds of muzzle energy and no caliber larger than .22 is allowed. The range has eight shooting lanes and there will be one bank of targets on each lane. This time I will set up to accommodate both rifle and pistol. One set of targets will be set up at rifle distances on the first four lanes with the other set at pistol distances on the last four lanes.

Air rifle matches are shot offhand, and the course of fire is 40 shots, 10 each at 20, 30, 36 and 45 yards. The competition will be divided into three classes, spring powered, pneumatic and target. Target class will be allowed to use standard three position gear like shooting jackets and such.

Pistol matches are shot at 10, 12½, 15 and 18 yards. Also a 40 shot match. Possible classes depending on turnout are standing or freestyle positions and magnified or open/dot sights.

A report of the last match and photos of the range can be seen at http://www.northwestairgunning.com/inde ... VENTS-2010. Scroll down to the section that starts NWA TRRC SILO Match, 04-18-10.

The black button will be activated to let non-members who want to take part through the gate. If you haven't shot with us before you can find directions at http://www.tacomarifle.org/directions.htm. Please send any questions to me and not the club. I can be reached at [email protected] or (360) 920-8285.

I hope to see you there,

Terry Cooke

TR&RC Silhouette match director.

I will bring a Diana model 54 that has been de-tuned to around 12FPE that you can try if you want.

Hey Twcooke, are you guys having an airgun silhouette match this month or next? I'd love to bring the new Marauder down and try a match with it. :)

I don't think we will be having a Silhoutte match; but interested in meeting and shooting some. I shot silhoutte for the first time last Sat, I mostly shoot Air Rifle Field Target, some smallbore 3 or 4 Position; but shooting alot of offhand at home. I had fun and looking to purchase a set of targets like Terry has. Hopefully next season we will get a bigger turnout, It was moslty a scheduleing problem with FT on Sat and Silhoutte on Sunday. We usually have an offhand lane every FT Match. So shooting other offhand games will help with FT. I practice offhand much more then the other guys and expect to score better- we also use the offhand lanes for a tie breaker- so they become more important. Soo looking forward to playing this game some more.

I also saw previous posts about 3000 psi and 4500- I changed tanks to 4500 psi a few years ago and will never go back. I have 2 carbon tanks and shoot most every day- one discipline or another. I shoot in a lower powered FT class- so my rifles are set to 800 ft/sec per 8.4 grain pellets and only shoot .177- were trying to fit the pellet inside a hole- so smaller pellets increase your score. You have some questions about sporter verses match rifles- big difference in the FT game. So could bring some other rifles too. But only have scopes on FT rifles, iron sights on 10M rifles and mostly shoot them in garage during pour weather.

I have my Daystate up and running finally... although could use a re-sight-in period... thankfully that can be accomplished in the backyard. HAHA

So, were to find a list of remaining matches for the year?? Silhouette or FT.
