Got the ruler and scale out. 8.6lbs. all up with empty mag. Rear of stock is legal, thickness around trigger screws is legal, scope height is under max height. Thickest part is 1/8" too thick. If "forward receiver" is where barrel enters receiver then fore end of stock is 1.4"too short.

That's about it. Not too hard to make legal for big shoots.

Those values are close to what I had with the Biathlon action, except mine was bedded a little deeper, so it was more like 1/4" too deep on the forend.

Hey Steve, I've got a guy in the office that is a big cross country ski racer getting interested in Biathlons, can I hook him up with you on the subject? He's just done some clinics where they have guns to use and try out, so he's totally green.

No problem. I am not a biathlete, but I do know just about enough on the subject to be dangerous. There are some folks in the US who are pretty high level experts on the topic, however.

forearm lenght looks ok too me, just dont shave too much off the bottom. so there is a bit sticking out in the front, it does nt say any where the barrel has to be near the forend. it may look a little like a NULA hunting rifle but it is still forend and should be long enough.

Yeah, I figure I'll just give it a nose job in reverse, cut an angled flat cut on the tip of the forend and add an 1.4" more of wood...kinda like a forend cap. It'll look stupid but legal.

could give it a sand and paint it with that granite looking paint, would never see the nose job. would look pretty cool .

I put the "multi-color" texture paint that's mostly OD green on my prone rifle and liked it so much that I used it on my previously gloss blue custom built stock on my CZ 452 Varmint. The extra grip is great and if it gets scuffed you can hardly even see it. A quick spray makes it good as new with no worry about blending or other finish issues. Once I work through some accuracy issues on my .270, I'm going to be adding a cheekpiece and palm swell with wood and bondo, and then I'll paint it with that texture paint.

I took the crazy way out, I ordered the production blank used for the gun. I'm going to cut off a section and shape it and...um, try and match the grain ...then when that fails paint it graphite and not tell anyone I spend $33.99 for basically 1.4 " of wood.

Did you buy an uninletted blank stock, or the big block of laminated wood?
