Need some ideas...

Post by CZforlife »

Ok so I need to add some weight into the back of my stock. I have a 452 Silhouette, which I already have been able to get the rubber but pad off with just a blow dryer. What do you guys recommend putting in the but of the stock. I need to add 1lb. Currently the rifle weighs, 7.2lbs and I would like to get it up to 8.2. All ideas are appreciated. Keep in mind this is a synthetic stock so melting lead and pouring it in I dont think is an option as it may melt the stock. :-?

Best regards, Baby Huey.

Ok, hollow out your butt with a drill and a 1 inch spade bit, preferably with my drill press. Ask Big Dave for a pound of #8 shot. Mix it up with some silicone and cram it in your butt. Reinstall pad with some leftover silicone. Clean up with some mineral spirits before it dries, being careful not screw up your CZ stickers. Voila!

Totally off topic, but the image in my head of you holding that little CZ silhouette stock and trying to shoot is just hilarious. I hope Hammy or someone is fixing you up something to lengthen the pull on that.

Use the banana peel like the one in the photo to cover your butt.

And what is the best way to get the lead in the but, through the back I guess? =))

On a more serious note, Is there any possible advantages of drilling on an upward or downward angle and not just going straight in. I kinda think drilling downward would be best as it wil put some of the lead closer to the to the bottom or base of the stock and create better balance? Sounds good in theory right?

On a second thought, starting at the absolute bottom and just going up enough to follow the bottom of the stock would put all the weight on the absoulute bottom of the stock. Any objections?

Hahahaha.. That thing really does look like a Cricket in his hands. You guys should come to the Conard Cup this year and stay at Byron's house. It will be more of a surprise. =))
