Conard Reports 2011 - now with Score Results!
Come in and share your stories.
NEW! Here are the 2011 Conard Cup Results
I want to take the time to thank a bunch of people and say how much I really appreciate our fellow shooters.
I wasn't scheduled to make it to the match but was able to sneak away from work for the weekend at the last moment. This allowed me to share the experience with my two oldest sons as well as myself as they had a few open spots on Saturday morning.
We went knowing we'd be a little under-prepared but we also had some family weighing on our mind. My grandfather had a heart attack on Easter just after having dinner at our house the night before. He had a bypass late Wed and the family has been at the hospital when they let us visit. He wanted us to do the match and we checked in every hour or two to check on his progress and went to visit him each night. Ultimately we had to leave Sunday at the conclusion of the match to check on him as things were changing. Although he is still in ICU, he's fighting like the crustacean he is.
All that said, the boys did well and in no small part to the great family of shooters we had supporting us. A huge thank you to Byron for being the alternate Dad when it helped the most. To Blair, Carl and Mark for keeping us moving, encouraging the boys and supporting the efforts. To Shawn, Randy, Matt, Bruce, "Sarge", Bob, Larry, Harry, Reid, Steve and the rest for watching over us and sharing the time. To the gang from Colorado and parts thereabouts for sharing their firing point and hardware with me when I slid in at the last moment (great meeting you guys in person!). And to Tom, for allowing me to cross-fire on him time after time to the point they wouldn't let me pick up my gun until Tom had fired on his first animal just to keep me on the right bank of targets!
It was a great match, great weather and great shooters. We missed the very end and saying good-bye to everyone - please accept our apologies. We look forward to meeting up at a match in the very near future to return the favors!

Re: Conard Reports 2011
Mike, it was great meeting you! I felt honored to share a bank of animals with ya.
I hope everything is working out with your grandfather. He'll be happy to hear the results of the shooting this weekend. I'll take second place any day to your boy. He will be proud to be able to tell his Great grandpa that he got 1st place.
Tell that little squirt to bring his A game (or should I say AAA game) next year! I'll be gunning for him. He put a whoop'n on me this year but I'm going for 1st Triple A next year. I'm sure Harrison moved into AAA this past weekend and I am hopefully just a match or two away myself. Should be fun!

Here are some photos from this weekend at the CBC match in Pe Ell, Washington. Hopefully all the other folks with cameras out will post some up. I didn't take nearly as many as I would have liked.

Awesome pics! Those really are clear and sharp - nice camera!
We had a blast. I wasn't keeping track but I suspect you're right - Harrison is probably AAA now, at least in Hunter so now he has to come play with the bigger boys. I'm pretty sure he beat me by a handful of points and so you and I will have to double-team him next year to keep him down.
Thanks again for all the hospitality!

Mike, I think Trent 'borrowed' McAlice's camera when he wasn't looking and was preoccupied looking for his hidden cell phonemordecai wrote:Awesome pics! Those really are clear and sharp - nice camera!

Hahaha... Lots of jokes around the name The Peep Club, but since one member is underage and this isn't the Behind the Berm forum, I'll just keep them to myself.

I do have to say, I met a lot of friendly people this last weekend. Steve Wooster, you put on a FINE match and despite all the stress of doing that I don't think I ever saw you not have a smile on your face. It was a great time and I will be back next year for sure. Also, what a beautiful range you folks have up there. That is some nice scenery.
Seemed like an awful lot of stuffed animals around the shooting line. I must be out of the loop on that one. Are those good-luck charms?

Now honestly Trent, youmust have been worrying about your paper too much and not listening to all the chatter! If you think there were a lot on the line you should have seen what came back to the room Sunday night after a meal of oysters and a ride with the Commander Kitty! Something about they were on sale for 75 cents each. All I know is someone carrying only them (having left his rifle and ammo) tried to get on the plane and was stripped of his shorts. Boy those TSA people musta relly been curious about a guy arriving with rifle and ammo and attempting to return with only stuffed animals.Seemed like an awful lot of stuffed animals around the shooting line. I must be out of the loop on that one. Are those good-luck charms?

Ahhhhh. So I don't need to go out and get any stuffed animals to try and pick up a couple more points. I really thought they were lucky charms or something. Haha. Ok I can scratch that off my list. Now back to sorting out this 50% off Shilen barrel certificate.
And no, it won't be a 6.5 caliber.
