Lg400 Competition
I've been researching my next air rifle and thinking about stepping up to an al stock model. Does anyone have experience with the new walther lg400 competition model? I am wondering if you can mount a scope for silhouette on it.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Lg400 Competition
Sancho. i shoot a LG300 and it is one of the easiest 10m guns to mount a scope on. Unless they have drastically changed the way the receiver is made, it should work fine. From the video of one in action on youtube, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvt1qEaK ... ure=search It looks like the top of the receiver is similar in design as the LG300 guns were. There is a dovetail that runs from the back of the top of the receiver forward and is continued in front of the loading port area so you can mount a variety of dovetail airgun type rings to it. I have the Aluminum stock version of the gun as well and it is so incredibly easy to adjust and get the gun to fit you like a glove. I don't think you would regret getting one of the new LG400 rifles. Maybe someone on here knows more about the newer guns. Limey used to be a big Walther fan and competes in 10m from time to time so maybe he would know more.

Just in case anyone is dying to know, the distance from the centerline to the lever is 1 5/16" according to champions choice. I may have to trade in the T24! Thanks to champions for going the extra mile to measure it for me!

Hi Sancho:
I couldn't understand your response until after watching the video. The cocking lever is much larger and longer on the LG400 than the LG300. On the LG300 the top of the lever is below the bottom of the scope. On the LG300 the lever clears the scope easily with 257H mounts. I think the cocking lever on the LG400 is not going to clear a scope.

Fin,
I'm pretty sure you're right. The weaver Windage knob is 1.705" of centerline. I'd like to avoid surgury on my scope or on a new rifle, so maybe I'll just take the knob dial off!!

Re: Lg400 Competition
HI Sancho:
When I said that the cocking lever might not clear the scope I meant the body and not the windage adjustment dial. The loading tray on my LG300 XT is very narrow and the cocking elver is right beside the loading tray. I originally had a problem with the lever clearing the scope mount (Burris) until I switched to 257H mounts. I never tried the 257 mounts, but with the 257H the lever barely clears the body of the scope. If the lever was any longer or the scopoe was any lower it wouldn't clear.
Besides, I am very happy with my LG300 XT and don't see any need to trade up to an LG400. I just wish my smallbore or high power scores were anywhere near as good as my air rifle scores.
