TO the best of my limited memory of how things went....

If you had no experience in the wind this match was a real eye opener..... Both days were rough - hot and windy - with day 2 just about bringing tears (to me anyways..... =)) )

A 14 yr old Jr shooter squeezed past Mark Pharr in a shoot off for the Aggregate Top Gun award..

The group from Mexico made it and a 16 yr old AAA Junior took high honors the first day and the 14 yr old AAA taking high honors the second day. Really really nice kids as were the rest of the guys.... Always a real pleasure to shoot with these shooters.....

Mark Pharr was High Master day one with Bill Motl knocked from any contention with a failed scope (we think). Bill came back the second day (Hunter Rifle) for the High Master but fell a little short of High Overall due to the super nice performance by the 14 yr old Jr shooter.

Match was run very nicely with some really nice sandwiches, drinks for lunches and some very tasty gumbo on Sat evening along with some frosty adult beverages.,.. Had some young target setters for this match and they worked...and worked and really got it done!

Several people took photos of the scores and I am sure they will get posted soon-est...

Sounds like everyone had a good time. I was wondering about Motl when I saw the scoreboard from day one and him only hitting 2/15 Chickens. My guess was Ram loads with Turkey setting lol. But now I see his scope took a crap. He must have finished on Chickens.

Post those scores someone. I only saw Standard Match scores.

Don Davis asked me to post for him, and I have to apologize that it was not done several days ago. I was sick and had some other personal stuff going on. Anyway, here's what he wanted to say (paraphrased from a phone conversation).....

I'd like to thank everyone who competed for coming to support the match, and also congratulate all the winners. We plan on making this an annual event, as a NRA Regional Match, and hope you all will return next year. I'd like to thank Elizabeth Rockett for assisting with the stat house and scoreboard duties. Thanks also go to the target setters, who did a great job both setting targets and herding cattle off the range. And thank you to everyone else who assisted in any way.

I know Don would like to get any feedback the competitors have to help with planning for next year. His email is dondavis49 @ yahoo.com (without the spaces). Attached are copies of the scoreboards. Hope they show up ok for everyone.

They look like great scores until you factor in they were 60 shot matches! The match winner, Victor (appropriate name! ), is a 14 year old shooter from Mexico. He won the shoot off against Mark Pharr by running all 5 turkeys. Nerves of steel.

That's great to see that Jim and Elizabeth Rockett are still involved in silhouette. I remember them coming to the Southern Nationals a few years ago and getting hooked. :)

The score board shows the winner's name as Raul Sanchez although Victor's score was only one point behind Raul.

60 shot or no.... Wind was 20/25+ in all directions...Tough conditions for sure....When you have several champion shooters doing there best the winner usually shoots......a great score.

My bad. It was Raul winning the weekend. Victor won the standard gun match.
