Rule 19.17.1. A competitor will
enter a tournament under the currently correct classification and fire the entire
tournament in that class. Should it be discovered during a tournament that a
competitor has entered in a class lower than the one in which currently rated,
the tournament records will be corrected to show the correct classification for
the entire tournament
Guess it saying tournament I missed it It could such that a monthly 40 round match would be considered a tournament
19.17.1 Reclassification during a Registered Match - If a competitor
shoots a score which is two or more classes above the currently held classification, that competitor shall be reclassified to one class below the class in which
such high score falls, for that match and thereafter. Example: If a Class A competitor shoots a AAA score, that competitor will immediately be reclassified to
AA for that match and thereafter. Guess I am interrupting this differently

READ the very last sentence in 19.17....in a State, Regional or National your highest class from 6 months prior applies...so if I don't shoot for 1 year prior do you think that I'm unclassified and thus start in Master class ...of course not...scores never die and your class lives on ..if we can prove it when you choose to hide

Yes I see that . I would take that as to counter anyone that petitioned and got their class lowered be for a "big" match . Don't see how that would pertain to carrying your 2 highest scores for ever that did not result in a bump up in class . I am with you though on rule changes as I pointed out earlier could be made much more strait forward and simple

What kind of rule would you write to get rid of sandbagging?

All a person does to sandbag is pull a couple of shots when their score is high enough. How do you stop that? Seems to me it would be impossible.

shunning the sandbagger is the only tool we have. If no one will associate with them, they will quit the sport and go try something else.

There is no need to write a new rule for sandbagging. We just need an online database like every other amateur sport in the WORLD has that allows match directors to enter the scores online. Have to make it easy and quick but that's not a difficult program to create. The database/program automatically handles classification and we could even have online registration for matches where the shooter hops on the internet, chooses the match he/she wants to register for, enters his/her name and squadding request and the program does the rest and sends it to the match director electronically (it could actually squad the shooters!!). It would take care of all the snail mail reporting and the entire silhouette department could be operated by one competent individual (NOT Greg Connor).

Even if the shooter is sandbagging at local matches, when (s)he goes to the bigger matches and shoots good scores, those scores will be put in the database, so that shooter can only sandbag 3 times.

The best way to stop sandbagging is to give all valuable prizes as door prizes and give certificates or small plaques/trophies to the winners of the lower classes. At our matches, we give merchandise as door prizes and a nice trophy to the match winner... if you want to win something really nice with your shooting, you have to win the match and beat the masters - sandbagging does you no good.

Go back read what I put put there as an idea for a minor rule change. You will never complete stop cheating but my idea would put a limit on it for sure . Yes with out a " data base" score keeping you might not complete stop sandbagging , but the sandbaggers would damn sure have to drive further and futher to get away with it

Its the electronic age...there's no reason not to have a data base that keeps scores and classifications...and change the 'highest two scores from last year" to highest three scores...in the book
