That is exactly why I make (and drink) red muscadine wine. Strictly medicinal of course.

Re: Aging.....
Sixty two here and besides wondering how I ever got to be this old this fast I am wondering if I can get my hold back after a 15 year layoff. The "old timers" I used to shoot with took up prone when they couldn't shoot offhand anymore. Maybe it's a good thing I didn't throw out my ISU coat.OnaginOffagin wrote:I am still suffering the effects of age (not complaining, so many others of my generation were denied the privilege), and my hold is degenerating...... I've already dialed the scopes down a bit, and I'm trying to make the transition from a "hold and squeeze" shooter to a "grab the damn thing as it flies by" shooter.... Anybody have any words of wisdom on compensating for age?

Had the same thought - but my "prone" is kinda like getting stuck high-center...not so good at it anymore. Then I have to get back up again! I'll stay with Offhand.

Re: Aging.....
I am 59. My right shoulder was hurting really bad last Saturday at the Benton Ar. BPCR match so rather than shooting prone I tried sitting up to shoot.. Got to say that I enjoyed that position much, much more than prone but could not connect with the targets ..Finished with a 9...Hmmm...Yeah I will eventually be quitting the BPCR matches and devote my attention to the offhand matches. It's rough getting older.

Re: Aging.....
Kevin Bear, I got your pm, buddy....and I appreciated the comments! I guess I should just quit worrying about it..... while I'm seventy three, I'm still in the mid-twenties, 28 the last Pe Ell match, and still in better shape than I deserve to be!
As I've said, I've dialed the scopes down, and since the hold has deteriorated, I've gone to aiming points more amenable to the "Grab Em' As They Come By School Of Marksmanship:" like the leg of the chicken, the hole between the legs of the pig, the leg again of them damned turkeys, and then laying the horizontal crosshair on the backs of the rams. I still love to see them fall, and as long as half or more of them do, I'll keep in the game, age be damned!

I havent been able to reliably hit a bull in the butt with a frying pan at 10 yards in quite a while.I just keep showing up and pointing the end with the hole in it down range and enjoy the heck out of it. Hard to shoot from thre dirt nap position so every day I can assemble the truck keys, the fire arm ,and ammo in reasonable close proximity and remember how to get to the range is a blessing.
I'm new to this site and thought I would be finding out how to steal chickens. I sure as heck cant shoot those little suckers .

I've coined a new phrase "old metallic silhouette shooters don't retire, they just start shooting cowboy silhouette". You can't see the wobble. You don't know there's a wobble. And it's fun and about 1/10th the frustration.

Hey! I thought we were gonna keep that to ourselves? Yes, Lever Action Silhouette is full of old coots - "Senior class" is certainly no advantage.
But you still have to see the targets and since we don't use scopes you'd better be able to use a peep sight is you ant to compete. Personally, I have allergy problems and carry eye drops to the match...can't see 'em well then the allergies start acting up.
