Nationals High Power results

Post by Evelio Mc Donald »

Does anybody knows the aggregate results of the Hunter and Standard class High Power match Nationals in Raton.
Can't find anything except the first match results posted by A. Braverman.

Thank you. I can see who the winners on each stage are, but the total score is hard to read,I can added them up, but thank you anyway.

X-PILOT
I did not get down to the AAA class, I would never have guess that a AAA shooter would win the Nationals.

I counted 42 in the top 3 classes. Could have held that at any range with 4 banks of animals. We need to get rid of the 10 bank requirement and give 8 SB and 6 HP banks a shot at the nationals.

8 banks x 4 animals x 4 relays is 128 shooters
6 x 4 x 4 96 shooters

just a little food for thought.

There is no need for any arbitrary number of banks requirement to host a nationals or any other match. There are several different factors outside of the number of targets that can make a range suitable for hosting a big match. Got resettable targets? You can run a bunch more shooters through in a short time with fewer targets. Got a bunch of people available to set targets? You can run a bunch more shooters through in a short time with fewer targets.

Any range or club that is interested in hosting the nationals needs to have access to Barry (or whoever the national match director is for that year) and they can work out together whether the range can handle the number of shooters expected. The number of shooters might have to be capped for a certain range, or the shooters might have to hang around and shoot all day or whatever. It's not difficult to figure out solutions to range capacity issues.

If the matches are going to move around, the highpower and smallbore matches are going to have to be separated some years. On any given year, if smallbore is held in a place that doesn't have a HP range, like Winnsboro or PeEll, highpower will have to be another place at another time. If smallbore is held at a place that can handle both, like Raton or Ridgeway or St. Louis or Missoula, they can be together and back to back.

The MOST important thing is that, wherever they are held, the matches be completed in a reasonable time so shooters don't have to spend two weeks away from home to shoot both matches. That means at big ranges we need to be shooting 60-shot matches and finishing highpower in 2 days and smallbore in 2 days with no "rest days" in between so shooters can attend and get back home to their families and jobs.
