Wolf Match Extra vs Standard Plus speed testing
So I got ahold of a chrono and tested some ammo I was practicing with. The wolf match extra is their top end and is more expensive than SK standard plus. I shot 10 rounds of each with the chrono, then 10 more with the wolf since i couldn't believe how bad it was. I cna't wait to get some more numbers with center x and some others just for fun. Anyways these are my results thus far:
Min Max Standard Deviation
1048 1091 13.3 Wolf Match Extra
1031 1069 13 Wolf Match Extra
1053 1077 6.2 SK Standard Plus
Half the SD is a big deal, even tho the sample size is tiny. Anyways, I thought it was interesting. Am not a geek!

Re: Wolf Match Extra vs Standard Plus speed testing
My understanding is Wolf and SK are supposed to be the same thing just in different boxes.
Wolf Match Target = SK Standard Plus
Wolf Match Extra = SK Rifle Match
It's possible the velocity differences could be attributed to different batches of ammo. Deciphering the batch numbers on the end-flaps of the boxes could give you some insight.

Yeah the different speeds doesn't bother me (thats part of why a rifle likes a certain batch), but the variation within the box is a problem.

Some food for thought. Ballistic Explorer Program
Zero at 40 m
Velocity-- Min to 100--inch drop at 100m
1100-------- 8.0----------9.11
1075---------8.3----------9.55
1050---------5.5--------10.04
Ya gotta go with the smallest SD.

I'm going to try shooting a whole box of practice with sk, then with center x and see how they compare. That change of one inch at 100 m is significant for a lousy box of ammo. Not that I notice with my 10 minute hold or anything, but still...
