lever action sights help needed
Hi everyone. looking to work up my first 22l lever rifle and need some advice. my choice of rifle is a Win 9422 and wanted to ask what peep or aperture rear sight and front sight combo would work best. Is it possible to stay away from drilling holes for the rear sight ? thank you

Check the top of recenter and see if it is groves. If it is you can use a williams fpgrtk. If the barrel is dovetail slotted you can put a Lyman globe front sight. Depending if it is slotted on the barrel or on a ramp determined the height required. Barrel slotted .494 ramp slotted .404. You may want to add a Gibbs lock screw replacement, order from browenell. If angle eject check the left side for tapping and use a williams or Lyman with mounting block.

If I was you I would look at the henry Frontier. It has a 24 inch barrel and all the requirements to properly put sights on it. I paid 408 plus tax ,shipping, and background check. Can buy a lot of ammo with difference in prices. The action is smooth with about a 3.5 trigger pull from factory. Will work on trigger when more rounds put through it. Check out dhatch posting under cowboy forum.

Just purchased a 9422 but when called Lyman for front globe sight to fit on the ramp the only choice is a 550 height which will not work ( to high they said). Will a Williams receiver peep work with the original front sight?

If Lyman said that I guess I guess I believe it But......?...? Why is the Winchester different on the front ramp than the Henry or Marlin or Cimmaron or Uberti or..... I have at least 4 different heights of Lyman fronts and I think there my be one (or more) that I don't have.
I believe you have been misinformed.

Dan-
They're to replace the elevation lockdown screw on the side if the Williams. They come with way more thread than necessary, have to be cut down, and the threads dressed to fit properly.
If you're gonna be at Raton, look me up. I carry a couple spares with me.... just leave that feller you spot for at home.
