Is the Kennedy's gun shy, you of all people should know we will. If I would bet on Limeaux, Paul's a shoe in. Need to do it via PM's, cause I hear he can taint the pot. Paul that is, Limeaux just ain't taint.

There is a gunsmith by the name of Brian Volker that I believe welds the 504 action up and then threads the barrel to the action. Maybe this is the ultimate solotion to truely fix the 504. Not sure if I want to invest anymore money in mine. I have 2-Anschutz and Three Remington 40x's that I can shoot with out spending any more on the 504.

Good luck to you,

Paul
Brian Volker definitely has the right idea! This is all I can do on 504's, since Kitty has lured me (and what little play time and money I have left) into High Power. It would really help if the 504Mc came around because it's enough like a 700 action Remington to make a great training rifle, which is the real point of the 504 anyway.

If you want Evelio to finish your 504, think about a barrel bedding point near the end of the muzzle, though you may want to stay tuned for my experiments. Threats to Kitty not withstanding, experimental rifles don't play on match days, so the 504Mc-X4 gets another field test tomorrow with the pad and if it shoots without further tuning, great, otherwise there's the current primary and backup.

I think I'll ask Bob if I can shoot the experimental 504...........I haven't been reallly frustrated in a while now............

Isn't it great.....I knew Blaubear was going to be a shooter and become an official River Range Rat when, the first time he was at the range after he had joined OFGC we convinced him to rescue a stray dog someone had dropped at the range......He is now one of us.....the unwashed.......

The 504 does feel a lot like the 700.....But in the dark I feel like Brad Pitt.....

Don't feel bad BlauBear. Since Kitty has lured me to the world of 'Bling', with Evelio's unsuspecting assistance, I feel the same way.. Damn you Kitty, can't you see what your doing :D

Kitty is very proud of his work!

Theory confirmed - stabilize the barrel at the end of the forearm and the sucker shoots real nice groups, even with ammunition it doesn't really like, at least until the foam breaks down (took about 20 shots.) Phase 2 is bedding it in at that point.

Paul - No extra charge for the R&D! 8)

Bob, I am glad the 504 is shooting again, when I had it, it shot great, you may want to make sure the barrel is still real tight, and yes some barrels do need a pressure point, specially if they are not real heavy, like the one on your 504.
Welcome to the high power game.
Evelio.

Evelio;

I'm new enough to this game that it's still surprising when a rifle shoots great one minute and lousy the next! First you're teased with potential and then it's back in the chase. Kind of like dating...

At the risk of speaking more heresy, it gave better groups (and chambered easier!) with Federal 711B than some old Eley Tenex I tried in it.

Mary/James,

How bad do you want to win that pot? Depending on which way you

After all the field testing I've done on the 504, Remington owes me a 547!

Paul, I had a un-modified 504 that shot great and sold it in one of my fits when Remington dropped the line. It doesn't surprise me that yours shoots well, though I am curious about the serial number. Low serial number 504's usually stink, but numbers above 4000 (some say 6000) seem pretty well behaved.

Remember my 504 has a Anschutz 1710 barrell installed by Evelio McDonald. He also pillar beded the action, so I have most everything you have without the custom stock. I believe mine was the first that Evelio worked on. Later Paul
