ring suggestions?

Post by nobade »

Well, I went to the BKL website to order rings for my new smallbore standard rifle, and saw the news. Anybody have any suggestions on alternatives for a good 2 peice ring set for a 3/8" dovetail? I have some Burris now and don't think much of them.

try British Sportsmatch

I have had good results with the british Sportsmatch mounts. They are good quality, light and strong (they are/were pretty much an airgun-fosussed company and these mounts are designed to put up with the nastiness of spring-gun recoil).

I really like Beeman rings from Airguns of Arizona. In my opinion, they are nicer than the BKLs, and of course they cost more. They are also made of aluminum, but they are heavier than the BKLs because they are bulkier. That may be a weight issue for some. I use the high version on the 54msr and 1712.

If you have a 1712 an inexpensive alternative is to use Weavers two piece #91 bases,{under 10.00} then use Leupold rifleman high rings,{under 20.00}.
I've been using this set-up for 5+ years without any problems. As is the case with all mounting systems make certain you use blue lock-tite, I prefer the chapstick looking form for screw threads.
