Thanks Steve, it would be nice to visit the salt flats, I was born in Utah and my father used to belong to some kind of car club based there in the 1950's.

I wish you luck at the flats.

On a somewhat related topic - I stopped in at Bass Pro Shops yesterday evening, hoping to inspect and handle one of the "new" Savage Revel lever action rifles in .22lr and .22wmr. BPS only had one such rifle in stock - it was the more basic model, not the Deluxe model.

The receiver of that rifle seems substantial in comparison to the Henry models. However, the barrel was short at 18", and a relatively slim profile.

I'd like to check one of the Deluxe models to see if they feel any more substantial overall. Guess I'll have to wait until a local gun shop gets a deluxe model in stock.

The real temptation on the BPS rack was a VERY clean and nice Remington 541T. I've wanted one of those rifles since the 80's. The rifle on the rack at BPS was an excellent example, and priced accordingly at $1500. I told the guy behind the counter that I've always wanted one, but that my desire was not $1500 worth. I recently purchased an Anschutz 1712 that hasn't been shot in a match yet, so my spending needs to be judicious.
