Lones Wigger Selected U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Finalist

Post by lone ringer »

Lones Wigger has been shooting Silhuettes since the beginning and has won several National titles. He deserves our vote. If you can't access the link provided in the note you can also vote for him on this other site.

Wigger really deserves this honor. Not only vote but e-mail your friends the website so that they can vote also. It is also my understanding that you can vote once a day within Olympic Hall of Fame guidelines until Friday March 28. When we first started Silhouette I thought it was just another fun family shooting game but then we saw Wigger at a Match and realized that if Wigger shot Silhouette, it was a real, viable, respected shooting discipline.

I've shot with Lones a few times, and spoken with him on various occasions, and you would never know by talking with him that he's accomplished what he has. A genuine class act. He is truly a living legend in our industry.

For those who may not have met Lones and would like a face to associate with this most certainly deserving shooting athlete.

I once read, and have no reason to doubt, that Col. Wigger has won more International competitions than any other American athlete in any sport.

I shoot with Wig weekly at the Olympic Training Center. In fact he and I are a two man team for the Sportsmans Team Challenge.

He is easy on this Air Force guy.

I wish I could vote more than once.

For fear of someone actually trying to sway the votes Lones' way via unfair methods I'll save the details of how to do it, but the poll there doesn't really limit voting in a meaningful way. You can vote from each computer once their way (so if you have many computers, you get to vote more) and the way they prevent multiple votes from the same computer is very basic, and the Girl Scouts could probably tell you how they do it this time of year... :)

Cookies are bad.

I hear they should be deleted every so often.

Seriously, folks. Even though you can do it, it doesn't mean you should. I think Lones can get in on his own merit. Just look at all the comments talking about him. Imagine if he got in and then it was discovered that voting was done for him in an unfair way. It would reflect badly on him and on shooting.

Lanny Bassham's comments....

Lones Wigger has won more national championships and more international medals than any other competitor in the history of this country, in any sport, that I can verify. I rank 3rd in medal count for shooters with 35, The guy in 2nd has 36 and Wigger has 122. These are International Championships, finishing in the top three in continental and world competitions. Unbelievable! He is without question the world's winningest athlete but because he is in a shooting sport he gets little media attention. Please give him the honor he deserves by voting for him.

What other sport is there where you routinely get to compete side by side with the best in that sport? Certainly the common person will never get to compete, eat and converse with the best in the stick and ball sports.

Wigger also proves that Silhouette and shooting sports in general can be an enjoyable life long pursuit. He did not quit at age 20 like the gymnasts do or at 30 something like the NFL players do.
