Another Evelio Beauty

Post by sobrbiker883 »

Posting for xpilot who shoots better than he compooters......
Here are a couple of pics of the 700 Evelio built. 7 BR, Pharr stock, Shilen select 8 twist, Jackson trigger . Pretty ,yes , but the sucker shoots. The group is 5 shots at 100 yds with two witnesses. ( I was afraid to shoot the 5th shot but it went in there). If you could put this on Steelchickens, I'd appreciate it.

Xpilot, what happened that pulled that shot out of the group....I mean it's touching, but it should be in the same hole.. Seriously, beautiful choice of colors and a great group.

shooter

When I get a rifle that won't shoot any better than that, I generally try to sell it. LOL. Nice one, I'm envious.
Admit it, it's never the guns fault. M Sickel

The size of that 5 shot group speaks volumns of the quality components and the craftsmanship to assemble them properly. But just as important, the ability of the shooter to prepare quality handloads and skillfully produce that tight benchrested group. Nice shooting Jim. If you don't mind telling us, what was the recipe of that load? You might want to consider entering the Cactus Classic with that rifle next year.

Bob, Evelio did a great job. Obviously, this ain't his first rodeo. It just feels great to pick up a rifle that you know can flat shoot. Now I better work on my end. The load I used was Rem brass, Sierra 130 HPBT, 30.8 Varget, CCI br-4, seated .015 off. I am sure a good bit of luck was involved, but it sure was a kick. Shoot well. Jim

I do my best not to think i know it all, but i do know i know half of what i think i know now, so if i mess something up, cant i get an alibi?

I don't get too sophisticated. Turned the necks just enough to clean them up, about 50% coverage. I had weighed a few samples of the brass a long time ago and they seemed quite consistent so just quit there. Again, I think it is more the rifle than the ammo. A good rifle will shoot average ammo well, but an average rifle can't shoot good ammo that well. Just my thoughts which are free and worth about the same amount. Good shooting, Jim
