No HP 07/13/08 at Ben Avery, Phx AZ

More expensive to feed, but worth it.

No HP 07/13/08 at Ben Avery, Phx AZ

Post by sobrbiker883 »

Thanks to the Benchrest range continuing to have work done on it, there won't be any Hassayampa Rod and Gun Club HP Silhouette this Sunday.

Those BR range repairs killed our SB last month, now HP this month?!?!?

HRGC Pres Alan Kirsch said that they are planning to screw up our dates next month as well and HRGC is trying to change dates or times so we can get our fix in spite of the bastages...........
Usually shooting scores right in class, too bad its the class below my classification!

Well Steve, our HP match was a bust. Only two shooters showed up for a match. I wanted to shoot , so the two of us set up ten of each target. We both fired about 75 rds. each just practicing. Even with our new line cover we cant seem to get the shooter attendance we want. Their loss. Oh well, makes my match report to my club and the NRA easy.......NO SHOOTERS, MATCH CANCELLED.

Bob...it's the same damn thing around so many rural areas of the country who try to get dyed in the wool braggert big game hunters to come out and show everyone of their pals what a great shot they are...

The fact is, is that these fools are just lucky to hit a target the size of your garage door at 250 meters while using a bi pod....and then that magnificant poor trophy animal is most likely wounded to stagger off to a pitiful death by the buzzards and coyotes.

Cowboys will be cowboys....Belive it or not...We got 'em up here too...to much pride to actually step up and bare their souls in a stand up rifle match...

It's the same up here where I live....Lots of deer and elk...lots of raod hunters, a lot more bush...lots of wouned animals..but very few " hunters" who come and shoot stand up rifle silhouette...Just no freakin' balls I guess...M

Marv, couldn't agree with you more on the hunter scenerio. We (I) long ago gave up on trying to recruit new shooters to the HP game. Tried lots of tactics to get people interested in and just trying silhouette out. One , maybe two matches, never see them again. My real complaint is the regular shooters we have not showing up to scheduled matches. Our numbers have been in decline for the last 15 years or so. We at one time had an average of 25 show up for HP. Even in the hot sun or cold weather. We lose too many matches each year to bad weather, so when no one shows up on a nice day it is discouraging. We are down to about 10 "regular" shooters now. Last years State match only drew 9 shooters on Sat., 11 on Sun. If this years attendance is no better, this year will be the last one held on my watch. (anyone want the keys to the kingdom?) I have tried several different times of the year to hold our state to accomidate peoples requests but have already been told by three regulars that they will be hunting that weekend in Sept.
