Hi Bob...I just got one with a 24" octagon barrel. I have been watching GunBroker.com for a year and a half. It cost me $631.00 with the shipping.
Then, I put a Williams Fool Proof peep sight with target knobs on the rear and a Lyman 17-A .494 high on the front. Tack on another $100.00
I have no plans to shoot it. Got a nice cozy spot for it in the safe. If you can find one for under $625.00, in the condition you want, my advice, buy it now.
Great gun for Pistol Ctg. Silhouette.

Congratulations on a fine purchase. I've heard they are hard to find... If you'd like I could keep the dust off yours, so it won't be called a safe queenmetalhead wrote:Hi Bob...I just got one with a 24" octagon barrel. Good luck in your search, Bob. It can be a little frustrating at times.
And, I just finished a job that I actually did for myself that is really cool. One of my customers came by one day and GAVE me an old Marlin 336 in .30-30.
It was in pretty bad shape. Broken buttstock, cracked forearm, rust pits here and there. So I took it all apart, polished up the parts that weren't to badly rusted nice and shiny, polished and then glass bead blsted the receiver for a soft matte finish, had the parts re-blued, and sent the re-assembled receiver back to Marlin for a facelift.
Two months later it came back as a brand now 336 Cowboy .30-30 with a 24" octagon barrel and brand new checkered walnut buttstock and forearm. Sweet !! Once again with the Williams FoolProof Rear with the target knobs and a Lyman 17-A .494 High Globe Front Sight.
Now this gun holds like a dream. Goodnight my safe queen. I'll make some money off this investment someday.
