Outback Mick returns
Hello All,
Yes the day has arrived, we are back from the near death experiences of our western deserts, whacko!
Having been in blissful ignorance for several months I return to civilisation to find that not a great deal has changed at all. Ramslammers by nature are still a bit slow on the uptake and generally speaking not the kind of people you wish to be seen with in public. However I did find the "goat" incident slightly amusing but not surprising the Game Ranch is a tough patch to hunt, just ask a certain person of rather short stature from Queensland. I'm left wondering what it will take to earn a "goat of shame" shirt. I firmly believe I'll be satisfied without one.
Speaking about hunting, the estimated 800,000 camels in Australia I have reduced by the incredibly large number of 25. Might take a few more rounds next year. I did get a happy snap of one of the beasties and will make it available for perusal/ridicule shortly. All I can do is urge folks to eat more camel - its good tucker, (might save me a few shots). I also have heard the KEVIN is up for a bit of camel hunting, we'll make sure to send him a list of our trips for next year. KEVIN would have to be a Land Cruiser man I'd say...... can't see JULIA getting into the swing of it though?
Well folks that is about it from me at this time, way past my bedtime.
Regards,
Outback Mick

Re: Outback Mick returns
Back Again,
For 2010 I thought I might stash a couple of camels into my gear for Raton. There is plenty of room at Whittington to get a small mob "humps" on the go. Make us Aussies feel right at home, well me anyway. I'm so sure a gurgling, rumbling, spitting bull camel with his ballon blown up would be just the thing to entertain the firing line, oh, that sounds not unlike to Ex Pom. I may have to rethink that plan... particularly the transport angle, we may need a bigger window licker bus. With the Butcher now all "alone" he may appreciate bringing a camel or two with the team. One hump or two indeed.
The old feral feline population is not quite as visible as they were a few years ago in our western deserts. Can only think the rabbit virus has cleaned up a bit of the available food source and they have slowed down a little. See tracks fairly often but haven't seen a cat for a couple of years, when we used to see about half a dozen during the season.
Having grappled with the conditions at Whittington this year (not very well I might add) it is back to the drawing board for sights and points of aim. Hope to get enough cowboy shooting done to break some bad habits, like missing!!!!
