Best resource for beginner?

I am going to my first-ever silhouette match this weekend in Mississippi. I'm a complete newcomer to this. I've hunted for about twenty years (since I was seven), shooting .223, .243, 30.06, etc... And I've been shooting a 22lr since I was four years old. But I've always just shot the 22 for fun, and never at 100 yards off-hand at a 2 1/2" target! And nearly all of my hunting shots have been braced on something - and obviously at a much larger target.

So - I just mounted a BSA 4-16 mil-dot scope (this one: http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=c ... 02904-7111) on my Marlin model 60 22lr. I am going to an indoor 50-yard range on Wednesday to sight it in (unfortunately that's the only thing close enough to get to).

Saturday's the match. I need some links to good "getting started" tutorials. Not so much the rules, etc - that stuff is everywhere. But more specifically, what's the best way to stand, brace yourself, hold the gun, trigger pulling technique, breathing technique - that sort of stuff. And anything else that I should know - you're the experts - fill me in.

I was looking all over for pictures of the proper stance and arm position - all I found was someone's ten year old daughter on this forum - and I'm not sure I'm that flexible! I know she could out-shoot me!

lt....there will bore than enough help at the match, all silhouette shooters are more than willing to share their opinions and experience with you. ANy of the old position rifle shooting books cover the bone to bone contact and support stance for offhand shooting, such as the position you see in the ten year olds photos. Us women have you guys beat on that by having the hip bones sticking out to rest the elbow on. A slight rotation and leaning of the back will help you some in your position.

there is a video you can pick up too. its for high power rifle but the stance is the same. its Jim Hill's Service Rifle Competition Basics. Its on dvd now and is sold through creedmoor sports and others. Good luck and welcome to the sport!
