Winchester Canadian Centennial Peep Sights

I just picked up a nice '67 Winchester Canadian Centennial 30-30. I noticed some others here shoot these for CLA. I'm more familiar with what is available for the Marlins, so I'm not sure what might be available for peep sights for this model. I prefer not to drill the tang, since it has a nice gold inlay saying Canadian Centennial. It looks like the receiver might be drilled and tapped for a receiver sight - but I'm not sure.

I tried doing a search for 'Canadian Centennial Peep Sights' on the SteelChickens forum, but nothing came up.

If anyone has any experience or suggestions for a peep sight that would not alter this Winchester, I would appreciate it.

Old Mike, I have the same rifle but the Buffalo Bill model. There's a Williams target peep sight that fits it. I'm away from home and don't have the pn#. Maybe someone else can chimin.

Oldmike, again I'm away from home and don't have the pn but most evryone uses a Lyman front globe sight with the post insert. Maybe Al has that pn also.

Ok, last question - I promise.

If I wanted to put a marbles folding rear sight on, instead of putting a blank in the dovetail, does anyone know what height rear sight I would need?

For your last question, remember that you might have to drill the tang in order to install the Marbles sight.
There are two versions of the Marbles tang sight: one version with a replaceable elevation post and another with only a standard post. The long post is only for really long-distance shooting. The height of the rear sight and the height of the front are obviously related. A really low fron (.404) might cause you to shoot high at close range even with the rear sight all the way down. Converfse for a high front.
Brownells catalog has a sight height calculator that you could use to determine the front sight after the rear sight is determined. I wish I had used it instead of installing a front sight first.

Yeah, I was looking at the Marbles #95 folding sporting rear sight, which lists the sight height as .320”-.420”. I know I was told to replace the front sight with a .494" lyman front but I am thinking that I might try the stock front sight with the Williams FP receiver sight. If I stick with the stock sight, would the rear sight height range of .320”-.420” be ok? It seems for the .494" lyman front sight, it would be too low, but I wasn't sure if the #95 folding rear sight would be ok with the stock front sight.

I know I should know this stuff - but the Winchesters are new to me. I had just investigated all the necessary parts for the 24" LSI Pumas, but have no idea what works with a 26" Winchester.
