Universal Pedersoli within the rules?

Centerfires, rimfires, pistol cartridges and everything in between.

Universal Pedersoli within the rules?

Post by mordecai »

1. Rear sights may be open sights, receiver or tang sights manufactured for the rifle they are mounted on. Front sights must be a post or bead, may be hooded or if interchangeable may use post inserts only.

So, does a universal tang sight qualify as "manufactured for the rifle" ???

Mike, all I can tell you is that in the last few years Greg and the Silhouette Committee have not enforced the rules as written and at the Nationals you can see a variety of tang sights much like the one you describe even though they were not and are not specifically made for most of the rifles we use in competition. On the other hand it does not really make that much difference what sights people use in Cowboy, not like you can buy points by getting an expensive sight since some of the rifles and loads we use are so flat shooting that we hardly need to make any sight adjustments. A friend of mine came up with a load for his 30-30 using 130 gr Speer bullets and he can aim at first three targets using the 6 O'clock hold and at the ram he holds dead on, all four targets with the same sight setting. In the PC depending on what caliber you decide to use and SB competition having a good repeating sight is an advantage over the run of the mill sights used by most.

I was thinking the same thing - I only need a pretty deliberate setting for PC.
But the sight is sitting here just collecting dust and I really like futzing with it, so perhaps I'll put it on another 39A and have some fun with it.
Thanks.
