Aussies get home from Raton

Post by Outback Mick »

G'day All,
You Americans can now start breathing again, the Aussies are back down under quietly sliding back under the rocks they came from, or in one case hopping back into the pond from whence they sprang.

All jokes aside, the Australians would like to thank once again everyone who helped, the list is long but I'll try to rattle off a few folk in particular. Whittington Center & staff - Dave & Rick, NRA Staff - Greg, Pat & Jon (actually Jon did bugger all, but I have to give him a mention for outstanding efforts with trade goods). Colfax Tavern gets a thank you as well. Those of you who noticed our Mascots will know why.....
Moving onto the competitors; The Pom, Doc & I enjoyed the hospitality of the Massey Cabin BBQs on two occasions. Many thanks to the Massey's, Zander's & Hill's. For devious guidance in the world of the SW we heartily thank "Innocent", although to be honest I'm sure that now most of the mystique has been removed our online "chats" may at times take a different line. (I'm hoping to post a pic or two concerning Innocent.) Thank you Jim & Belinda Goodnight & Joy Cox for an enjoyable lunch at Cimmarron on our day off from the range during the New Mexico State shoot. Tim Finley for leaving a bottle of Spiced Rum in our "drinking den" and also for contributing large amounts of cash to our slush fund, thanks Tim..... Rick & Glenda for introducing us to Colfax, Hershey's, George Hestor and everyone else who took the time to listen (understanding wasn't required) to our grunts, moans and splutterings.

On the whole we didn't shoot particularly well, but quite a few of the extended team picked up grade placings and everyone (except the stinking Pom) seemed happy enough. We never have shoots with so many competitors at home, so it was good experience for all of us to compete in such a large event. From the numbers it would seem that Cowboy is getting more popular, we can only hope it retains the "fun" and doesn't go the way of other disciplines and get way out of hand in regard to gear etc.... I'm sure you know what I mean.

Once again thank you all. We hope to catch up with all of you in the not too distant future..........2011, 2012......

Regards,
Outback Mick
