32-20 Marlin Cowboy Limited Octagon
I just bought a new Marlin Cowboy Limited in 32-20 with Octagon Barrel. Does anyone have a good 32-20 load that works well in Pistol Cartridge?

Hi, Glen,
I shoot a Winchester/ Miroku 1892 .32-20, and it likes the Saeco 118 gr. bullet, home cast, over 4 gr. of Hodgdon's Universal Clays. I also have a Browning Model 53, and it likes the same load as well as 4.5 to 5.5 gr. of Unique and the same weight range of Herco.

I had a 32-20 which I sold to a frequent poster here. It shot "lights out" with 100 gr. Hornady's and 5.5 grs. of Unique. Bob, did you even shoot her yet?

I have been shooting laser cast 115 gr flat points and 4.5 Unique in my 1894 Marlin 32/20 22 inch barrel. I think it's a good load but will be putting in on the bench soon to confirm it's good. If I go to something other than Unique it's probably going to be 4227 and more of it, no reason 2400 won't do the same job 4227 will too.
Thing about less than a case full of Unique it's sensitive to powder position in the case. Mount the rifle same way everytime not a problem inconsistent mount is going to mean inconsistent result. I spotted two guys trading off the same 38/55 rifle last weekend. Light load of Unique, one pulled up to the target one raised high shouldered the gun then screwed down into position. 3 to 4 moa difference in the point of impact at 200 yards
This was a non sanctioned club match that allowed spotting with a 20x scope, the difference was real obvious.

Thank you boats. I have plenty of Unique and 2400 so I'll try those loads. I use unique in my 38-55 and have been inconsistent with it. Maybe it's time to change powder. Please keep me updated on your bench tests of various powders and I'll give you my results on using tight group, trail boss and 4198. Between the two of us we'll come up with some good loads with half the work! I'm also about to cure what I consider my #1 problem and that's my eye sight. I'm finally going to wear specs full time with line less bifocals.

Glenn I shoot a lot of Schuetzen with 32/40's and 38/55's 4227 in the 32 or 4759 in the 38 hold most of the records and win most of the matches. Go short distance like Gallery subsonic it's Unique everybody uses. Of course some old fashioned guys shooting old fashion guns, with very good results though.
My Cowboy lever guns only shoot offhand so don't know for sure Unique is good, I do plan to test it since the 32/20 is not giving me the same result the 39A is on paper. Might be the gun load or me
