New shooter-sort of
Lurker finally signed up,with a question I can't find the answer for!I've been out of HP sil since 91,except for BPCR and Lever Rifle. So to get back in the mix I'll need a new rifle to shoot Sporting Rifle division.Question is, can I use a after market barrel on a Savage action and hunting stock in 7BR,if I can find one. When I stopped shooting sil,the .308 ruled. Been shooting XTC with a AR15 and the .308 seems a bit much for this old man! Thanks Warren Great site!!!

Hope you meant Hunting Rifle class. 9 lbs rifle or less with scope, two lbs or more trigger with working safety, 26" or less taper barrel , hunting stock. Can't make single shot out of repeater and 7mmBR may be hard to load from magazine. Other than that you can mix and match components. Hope this helps you.binski wrote:So to get back in the mix I'll need a new rifle to shoot Sporting Rifle division.Question is, can I use a after market barrel on a Savage action and hunting stock in 7BR,if I can find one.

Thanks lone ringer. You're right,I did mean Hunting Rifle.I completely forgot about the load thru mag part. When I was in the loop,I shot the heavy rifle.I guess I'll have to rethink this. Thanks Warren

binski, I'm very happy with my Tikka T3 6.5x55 out of the box. A lot of guys are shooting them and at $550.00 they'll do the job.

Thanks ppkny, one of the local guys was shooting that same rifle last season as his heavy gun and is looking to sell it.I don't know what kind of stock it has on it.I think there are two different stocks for that rifle.I have a Swedish M96 that I always liked to shoot for our Vintage rifle matches. That round in a scoped gun may be the ticket! Thanks Warren
