Thompson Center Venture

Post by chuck d »

I have not paid much attention to new guns in years. HP Silhouette may be on the upstart here in NH in next couple years, so I am keeping my eyes open. TC has a new model out, the Venture. Not much to look at, but seems to have a bunch of desirable features:
60d bolt throw and slick, on par with a Tikka
5R rifling
Adjustable trigger
available in a weather guard finish
DBM, 3 shot, not sure if larget capasity is available
shoulders nicely

Available in 7-08 with a 1:9 twist
$480 retail.
Anyone seen touched one?
thanks

I've played with them a bunch, but haven't shot one. You are right, the bolt is ultra slick opening and closing. Like buttah.

The 5R rifling is a nice addition, and the triggers feel pretty good. I was looking at getting one when I was looking for a .204 Ruger but the 3 round polymer magazine turned me off. I could find no source for 5+ rounders.

I think for a factory silhouette rifle they would do well.

Go to the Concord wal-mart and get a Remington SPS for $475 and just add on what you want. You will save money in the long run. $-)
