A yard sale goody....

Post by Bob Mc Alice »

I had to share before this gem slips my possession forever. While at an estate sale last week I saw an old tattered box outside the garage of the home where the sale was being held. It's contents was totally covered with dirt and dust from the last half century or more. The lady in charge was throwing it away . Her son had to move it as it was so heavy. I asked if I may have it rather than it be buried in a landfill. "All yours" she said. I quickly loaded it into the back of my pick up. #:-s

I cleaned it up and it turned out to be in very good condition. It dwarfs my own take down tools. I contacted Mr.B about it and he just happen to know of a recent graduate of the Colorado School of Trades Gunsmithing program. This guy relocated from PA and plans on opening up a shop somewhere in CO. He is now in the process of collecting up all the tools needed for this career path. He jumped at the offer to have this nice barrel vise and wrenches set.

This thing is a monster with all the stuff in the picture weighing in at 86 pounds. The cartridge is a .50 BMG standing tall right next to my favorite 12 oz. can of Rocky Mountain brew. There are no markings at all on any components.....possibly a "liberated" GI arsenal unit ? :-$ Anyone here seen one like it before?

I will be delivering it to the HP match this Sunday so Mr.B can get it to the new owner. Dave, you better eat an extra helping of Wheaties on Sunday. This sucker is HEAVY!!

I have a son in law that is a boss at the Coors plant. He keeps my beer fridge well stocked at all times. You learn to like the stuff when it's free. Besides, all the money saved by not having to go to the liquor store can and does go towards shooting silhouette. :D

Don't be bad mouthing our local brew! [-x b-(

My father in law just retired from Ball Corporation. They make all the cans for Coors (and the cans for just about every other beer/soda on the planet), so our fridge is generally well stocked with Coors, along with a bunch of other Colorado local brews. :-bd

Trent, I don't bad mouth it...I just don't drink it, and I can tell you that when the Swiss, Italians, and Germans are in Golden after dinner they go down to the bridge upstream and unload all that nasty stuff in the river....and this goes on for about two weeks.

259..I don't have pigs anymore so the Rocky Mtn oysters are non-exsistant. And we are in a month without an R so the real oysters are off limits.

Note the word real...now if you want a real fun science experiment pour some booze on a raw oyster and see what happens.
RMO's eat whenever you can get them, just like most other four legged critters.

AD9...now when I do drink my choices are usually Potato juice (potato vodka), rum (very paticular about which rum), TKY (smart enough not to try to keep up with my mexican brothers on this), Drambuie (only with a wee tad of shortbread), and very rarely I'll drink margaritas. So for your experiment, a good strong shot of of 151 of course! And if you don't have any I probably still have at least one unopened bottle from the Bahamas.

Snake...remember in Golden you can't get any other kind of beer, all the restraunts are contracted with Coors...so the choice is to go all the way over to AppleJacks and pay the price for a good imported beer, which is the first place we all stop on the trip from Denver International to Golden. So don't blame poor McAlice because he only has access to 'government supplied' beer.
