McAlice, do you still have that Remington barrel that was missing some of the rifling? (if I remember correctly) If so, have you looked at it now that you have a bore scope?

AD9, I did not know about the Chinese knock off but it looks similar to the Gradient Lens "Hawkeye" model. When I was at the local nuke bomb plant we had a lot of these Hawkeyes in both flexible and rigid shaft types. We had to view the insides of welded sealed vessels for any defects and video record the scene for quality evidence. Only the best for the gov't with your tax dollars. For a long time I was lucky enough to be able to borrow a Hawkeye from a shooter friend. One year ago Mr. Bonner and I split the cost on the 17"deluxe kit which has the 90 degree eyepiece and aluminum hard case. Brunos in Phoenix had the best price at $925.00 Did we really need it ? No. Do we really like it ? Yes.

Trent, that barrel was the carbon steel 7-08 varmint with 5500 rounds through it. That was the one I sliced the chamber end open on a band saw. From mid bore to muzzle it is bright and shiny with no defects. The rest is burnt up pretty bad.

Bob I saw the same scope for less at www.penntoolco.com for $495.00 for the standard kit and another $100 for the 90 deg addapter. I also have to use bore scopes at work but all the hawkeyes we have (3) are broken and now the inspector keeps the only working one locked up away from us knuckle draggers. We use an off brand that I can't find a brand name on so I'm guessing its a cheep knock off. It works well for what we need. I'm just wondering if the knock off will work well for me in the limited use I will give it.

I agree that some calibers seem to like a certain load and no matter which gun they are fired in seem to work well. .243-to-.308 is the best example of this.
