Newbie here--got a couple questions

Just getting started here. Been shooting for most of my life but decided its time to get more in to it.
I'm looking at starting out shooting silhouette.
Kinda looking at either a cz 453 or 455 to start with.
My question is mostly about which of the two guns would work better/best for silhouette? They are within my budget--but--is there other options that I should be looking at instead?
another question is regarding scopes. I'm kinda drawing a blank here. there are so many options and I truly don't know where to begin. Any help would be appreciated.

by the way, I live in Sequim, WA and will likely be traveling to Tacoma for some silhouette shooting.

Big T, welcome to a great sport. First, go to a few matches in your area, there will be plenty for you to try at the matches. Most in your area will probably direct you towards a CZ 452 over the 453 and 455 for various reasons. You are in the heart of Leupold country for scopes, but they are a personal preference. Try different scopes before deciding, just remember mechanics are important for this game, so that tends to push you towards, Leupold, Weaver, SIghtron and some limited Bushnell/Tasco's. I would strongly recommend visiting a match or two, haven't seen many silhouette shooters not willing to share their equipment and time to a newbie.

Big T: Tacoma Sportsman's Club holds a practice match the 1st Sat of each month and "for real" match the 2nd Sun of the month. Also, Cap City (south of Tumwater) holds a match the 3rd Sun, so you'll have plenty of opportunity close by to see what's going on, ask questions, etc. I got started when one of the South Sound regulars handed me his rifle after a match to shoot at remaining animals.

So, got another question.
Is there a book, video or some type of training that I can get that will assist me in learning to shoot. I am primarily self tot. I have no idea if I am doing it right or not. I plan to hit youtube tonight and see whats there but there most be some pointers out there in print somewhere.
Any books or videos that you might recommend? How about a 10 step to the "bulleye" or something like that.
Let me know what it takes and how you learned to hone your skills.

My boy is in marine basic training right now. I need to be able to shoot as well as he does when he gets out or I will never here the end of it.

Nothing personal, but unless you boy is a natural talent, you only need to follow a few basic rules of offhand shooting to be able to beat him. The typical military basic training, is politely put...spray and pray. There are several books out there for standing position, but truly, you are in the center of more master class shooters than anywhere in the US... just attend some matches in Western Washington and watch, talk with the crew around you.

Another newbie here too. I have a question about which CZ 452 to consider and where to get such a model. I've found that some models are hard to find in my area. I went to the match on Sunday to obverse. I think I'd like to give it a try. Thank you in advance.

If you all ready have a .22, bring that to the match or during a practice session they might have with the scope you might have too. I started out 3 years ago with a Marlin 39a that I used for 2 years and mounted a $99.00 AO scope and used that. I just made Hunter Class by a couple OZ and had gunsmith work on the trigger for $25.00. I got more eye lookers with that 39a. Some asked to try. Then, 1-1/2 years ago I bought a CZ452 American. All I am saying is, if you have a .22 rifle, try using that first for a time.

PS: We have one young fellow that brings out his old youth rifle with iron sights and can pluck a turkey on the first try most every time. It brings a few laughs couple times a year. He is always trying something goofy now and then.
