new old guy
Hi guys,
This is my first post here;
I have been poking around on the site and like what I see.
I have been a shooter from age 7 and am.................Well a lot older now
I shot these crazy critters from close to the start, at Ben Avery in the mid 70's and still remember all the fun we had.
I shot every version of Silhouette offered except .22 rifle back in that time.
I found of group of shooters here at the end of the word (South Dakota) that shoot Silhouette in our state and am getting ready to jump back in.
I am enjoying the info here and it has been helpful in picking out a new .22 for hunter class, I just bought a new CZ 452 Silhouette it looks real nice!
I haven’t shot it yet I am still waiting for my scope to get back from Leupold 4x12 AO that I had target turrets installed on.

SD is easy to find, try to drive through any small town after dark and you be stopped because the streets are rolled upJerry G wrote:SD, Where in the heck is that? Say hello to Tom and Kelly at the next shoot.
BTW I will say hi at the state shoot next month, if I see them.

OK, someone tell me where the range is in SD. I may want to see how fast they will let me drive in that state. The mighty Missouri river is only about 450 miles east on highway 12 of where I live in the summer. Where and when is the State Match?

The range is in Timber Lake, SD. Kelly Landis is the man in charge. I believe you can reach him at 605-845-2591.

Hay New Old Guy. Our state match here in So. Dak. is Sept. 15 for small bore (60 rounds each gun)-- and Sept. 16 for Hi-Power. On Sept. 16 lunch is provided, if you can't hit s--t you can have a really good meal. Everyone is WELCOME, it wouldn't bother us at all if Miss Mallory kicked our behind. See you all in So. Dak. Kelly Landis.
Other contacts- Colin Milliken (605)-865-3728

I plan on it, if work will cooperate with me that is.
I have an unfired, un-scoped rifle (CZ 452 Silo) I plan on using,

Don't hurry sarge. I know a guy that swaps rifles and scopes between std and hunter matches. But.................. He shot like crap after he did.

Timber Lake, SD? I grew up in Yankton, SD. Wasn't even aware Timber Lake had electricity yet, let alone a metallic silhouette range.
Congratulations! Next time I go back to see my dad, maybe I'll lug my .22 rifle along. If nothing else, I can pot a few prairie dogs.

Yes sir pistolero, we have electricity and indoor plumbing here in So. Dak., even though the "house" containing the hole, ( two of them) is quite small. Also the match in Paris MO in October looks real interesting. I will have to try real hard to attend. Kelly Landis/red-top dakota.

Re: new old guy
Good joke!
Other than hanging Jack McCall (he shot Wild Bill Hickock), my town's claim to fame was Lt. Col. Custer and his troops spent the winter of 1875/76 at Yankton prior to the spring campaign to force the Indians onto reservations. There was a billboard at the edge of town with Custer's photo and the words, "Welcome to Yankton. Sure wish I had stayed."
