Neihouse had Appendicitis yesterday and had to have his appendix removed this morning. He is still in the hospital but expects to get to go home by tomorrow morning. He is doing fine.

Wow, so sorry to hear that. I was actually thinking about him today, and was planning to call him tomorrow to ask how his knee is doing. Guess I'll give him a little time to recover first. Thanks for letting us know.

Home for the past couple of days. Going home without the appendix I came in with. I shall not miss either.

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts from my extended family in the silhouette community. I am home and feeling better as the day goes on. Have been up and walking and have had two showers today trying to wash that terrible hospital smell away. I'll be down for a few days and return to light duty next week.

Woke up Sunday morning about 6 am with a lot of pain and upset in the tummy area. First thought was stomach virus. Felt great on Saturday and had no real warning that anything was wrong with me. I wrapped up in a blanket and spent the day in my recliner, hoping the symptoms would pass. They didn't, so around 6 pm Miss Kitty took me to the local hospital to get checked out. They did a cat scan of my stomach and found the appendix to be enlarged. "Got to come out now" says the OR doc. So, at around 12:30 am off I went to surgery. Surgery was successful and I spent the remainder of the early morning hours until around noon on Monday in ICU due to possible complications from a leaky heart valve. Discharged from ICU to a room Monday afternoon hooked up to all kinds of machinery and a very evil IV in my left hand. Tuesday afternoon the surgeon came in and gave me my walking papers and a "swift' 3 hours later we were on our way home. Clear liquids for meals for the duration of my hospital stay and still on a liquid diet for now, will try solid foods tonight.

Some observations: Laproscopic surgery is a good thing. It does, however, leave large holes. 3 holes and 30 industrial looking staples now adorn my hairless tummy. Hospital beds are evil and not designed for patient convience or comfort. I fought a running battle with mine for two days, I believe it won. Hospitals are not the place to get any rest. Noisy and too many lights that you can't turn out. And the medical community must have put a lot of thought in how long it takes a person to doze off under such conditions. How else would they know just the right moment to open the door and come in and check to see if you are still breathing? Also, when you are hooked to an IV infusion pump and in a bed that is hard to get out of and you can't bend at the middle without excruciating pain, going to the bathroom takes a lot of pre-planning. Start early. And hospitals exist in some sort of time warp. Time definately slows down when you are in a hospital bed.

Forgot to add this regarding the broth and Jello.....I did not know that there were so many ways to screw up something simple as broth....as to the Jello, I have never trusted it....It is just wrong in so many ways...

I saw mine....I had used it completely up...then they sent it to the lab to test for cancer...didn't even know you oould get cancer there....came back clean...just no salvage value in what was left though...Hopefully will get back to work next week...this sure cuts into your regular activities....I have HP loads to test, tonight if Friday night football and I can't go...I'm getting bored..
