Boyd Stocks Hunter Stock

Post by oldrifleman »

I need to transition my daughter's CZ scout over to her little brother soon. Been thinking (always tough) about what to get her (she is 10) and have decided to keep her in a CZ for now. She really wanted a PINK (Yukkk!!!!) stock, but the only pink youth sized stock is the CZ one no longer in production, and did I say I hate pink. I showed her the applejack color boyds Hunter style and she approved of the color and I know they will cut them down for you. my question is have any of you seen one used in competion? I am planning to get a 452/55 American, add a timey trigger and if I can find it, one of the DIP bottom metal triggergaurds and add a Sightron scope. I know that A) she has never shot in competion, and B) they will let kids get away with what they bring, but I want her to have a quality set up that may actually fit the rules. Any comments? Steven

Steven,

I have that stock on my squirrel rifle. I think it'd be great for silhouette. I'd go for it if I were you. (note that it's not the lightest stock around)

Yeah by the time I get it cut and bedded it will be around 2.4 pounds (SWAG) (not sure what the factory stock weighs maybe around 2Lb?).

I would do it. The other option is a weatherby MK XXII, but they cost quite a bit more than what you're proposing.

I think you ought to have that stock dipped with a pink camo pattern! She'll really like that.
