Yearly averages....
I now have 2 years under my belt and added my 2 score books up and averaged them.
First full year shot ended the year AA and averaged 20/40 and 19/40, standard/hunter rifle. Didn't shoot any AAA scores.
Second full year now, ended the year AAA with 22/40 and 23/40. Not a big improvement except that I shot 8 AAA scores.
No point really. Just thought it was interesting how cyclical my scores were this year compared to last.

Have always kept track of my hit percentage each animal. Club NRA Sanctioned matches I kept track of all our shooters for a while but gave it up due to the complexity, two guns 5 classifications & not too many people were intrested.
However our afternoon club matches for Single Shots & Levers Rams only hung from Swingers I keep the stats for all shooters all matches. It's simpler, One gun one class & we give annual trophys based on Rams hit top 5 matches, 200 targets total. 24 matches a year 12 Rimfire 12 Centerfire. About 100 total shooters perhaps 4 dozen that shoot at least 5 of one or the other. Dozen guys that can win anytime & finish within a few hits of each other end of the year. Guys study the results carefully as the year progresses.
It's interesting to look back. Format top 5 lets a shooter throw out bad matches. Some shoot a consistent average all the time . Others have spurts real good match followed by a bad one. Some months results show a conditon bias, but even on bad conditon days top shooters scores are about the same, they are further ahead of the pack though. You can see a trend with some shooting good falling back then going up to good again. Two steps forward one step back. End of the year consistent shooters take home the Trophys. Have to put together 5 good matches to be in contention.

Over the past 7 years I've kept a running average for each match score (as well as SD), animal and animal number on a spreadsheet. Not so concerned about individual scores as I am in improving my average score from year to year (if possible). I also separate matches that I run and find almost an average 2 animal lower score in those matches.

SD tells the story more than average. Consistency is key. Harry Pope said 100 years ago does not take center shots to win a match, it's the absense of bad shots that makes a winner
I find the same thing as you very difficult to shoot well in a match you are running. Ok yes top level no. Our club runs 4 regulation matches and two club matches a month 3 of us share the MD duty's all say the same. I figure your brain is like a computer get too many things processing it slows down. Shooting for score while thinking about how the match is going is not easy
It is intresting to see your individal percentages animal to animal. I have a good idea of what I need out of each bank don't count up the score as I shoot am aware up one down one or more each run of 5. Get ahead or behind one relay forget about it & focus on making my target goal next bank
