what rings and base?

new to rimfire rifle and i am looking to shoot nra smallbore silhouette,i have just purchased a savage mk ii btvlss 22lr and a weaver kt-15 to mount,my question is what rings and base to use to keep scope optically centered and have no issues with bolt clearing scope when opened,fyi this is a lefthanded rifle,any and all help or suggestions is appreciated

Base doesn't matter too much but you need to get some TALL rings. For a rimfire you can get by with some inexpensive al. ones. Short rings will give you neck strain and a real good view of the frames of your shooting glasses.

Most of us use tall rings. The inveterate tinkerers among us have also experimented with a number of ring/mount combos and experimented with scope placement fore and aft to find that "sweet spot" that works best for us. I suspect you will do some of this as well.
The only ring that I'm aware of allowing optical centering of a scope is the Burris offering. BKL used to offer several mount base options with compensation built into them, but I think they are down to one model (or thereabouts) now with that feature. I believe that there also used to be a version of the B-Square Airgun rings that were actually adjustable to allow you to build the articulation arrangement you want. This seems overly complicated to a "dumb ol' country boy" however.
My solution? Two high-tech shims made from diet coke cans cut the same width and arc length of the bottom of a BKL 257 ring, slipped beneath the scope at the rear ring. I don't really have much concern about optical center. I simply don't want to run out of elevation at rams.

The picture makes the rings look taller than they really are because the inserts are absent, these will work well on your savage.
