54.18 Action Screwed

Post by Bullseye98 »

Can anyone out there that has a 54.18 Silhouette tell me the measurements of, and if possible, the Anschutz part numbers for, the action screws.
Any possible US sources for same?

So called 'gunsmith' misplaced (lost) the originals and the replacements are crap. This guy is unknown to the silhouette game and just as well.

Call Since 1975, Neal Stepp, Owner 2319 E. Loop 820 N., Fort Worth, Texas 76118-7103 · Telephone/Fax: 817-595-2090

He will either have the original part or be able to identify the screws.

They are 5mm and available at most hardware outlets for under a buck each.

Went through a pretty extensive search and they are like hens teeth.... Different thread pitch than anything you are likely to find and I am pretty sure they are 6mm for the 54 actions and 5mm for the 64 actions...

Does the 54.18 Silhouette use the same action screws as the 1400-1800 series of 54 actioned rifles (M6x0.75) or does it use the same as the 1700 series (M5)?
.....I don't know either. I second the advice to call Neal Stepp.

Don't waste your time at the hardware store. They are a odd ball size.

It seems M6x0.75 is correct. All I need now is correct length. Front and rear are very different.

Thanks for all the help and advice.

You guys are great.

I was in the same situation, and rather than pay for the custom sizes, I bought a M6x0.75 die from off eBay ($12) and extra long 6mm screws at the local hardware, then just cut and threaded them exactly as I needed them. Saved some money, but now can make any size that I need
