What to Do?

Post by Jim Beckley »

One of the ads here says that I can be an expert marksman in 4 days, there are 4 days left until the Az state HP matches start and I have to work on Thursday, any ideas?

Steal/borrow one of those dozens of 7mm-08 Remingtons that the Guru has. He won't even notice one is missing and that's all you need to rule the world according to him. :)

:) Your so right, Jason. Thanks for reminding me, I almost forgot.

I got a smoking good deal on a May 77 built long action 700 BDL that was NIB unfired in .30-06 last week. It was on Gunsamerica for two hours before I came across it. The guy bought it with the intent of hunting with it but never did. He also bought a new 2-7x Redfield with steel rings and bases for it. It has sat in his house unused ever since. $499.00 with the scope and rings included. :) I sold the scope to a guy at work for $150.00 right away. $350.00 net for the rifle. 8) Naturally, I put a new 7-08 take off on it along with a 12x Leupold I had on hand for just such an occasion. :D I had it out Sunday for a sight in and test. I put twenty rounds of 162 gr. Hornady Amax with 38.0 grs. Varget from it ...NO BREAK IN OR CLEANING. It will head shoot turkeys like my others will. Next time I am out it will get a 300 meter zero like the other couple I have with out target knobs.

Sorry for the hijack, JB. You can scold me in person on Friday. Hey, you work in a rock quarry, a safe place to shoot rifles. Just make little rocks out of big ones on your lunch hour.

Does anyone else even have any of those Leupold 12X scopes anymore? I think you've bought them all up along with every Remington 7mm-08 takeoff barrel on the market. Are you going to make it up to Montana for the Iron Man?

Those 12x's show up all the time used in various condition and prices on popular websites. I am picky and want them as nice as possible. I am always willing to spend a little more for a good one. I have bought several 7-08 take offs from different sellers over the past few years. But I got lucky and hooked up with a gun builder that has been supplying me with his take offs. He calls in an order of say 3-5 stainless SPS rifles in 7-08 just for the actions. Every so often UPS drops off a package of barrels and I send him a check.

Oh yeah, I will not be in Missoula this year again. Most of my vacation time this year is booked up for other plans.
