smallbore silhouette

I think I'll give small bore silhouette a try one last time. I have a Kimber HS and a Leupold 6x18 scope. It has been my turtle gun for several years and I've shot it in a couple of local matches a few years ago. I have been told that the smallbore nationals are going to be at Raton next year and this will give me another reason to go there. Do any of you guys /gals shoot one and what changes did you make to make it competitive? I shoot cci standard velocity in all my 22s and what brand may be the best for this gun?

As I'm sure others will attest to, every 22 is different in what ammo works in it. Mine hated the most expensive eley, loves wolf. I use sv as practice ammo, and its fine for that.

As for the gun, I've been told any gun you are comfortable with that shoots relatively well (1.5" groups at 100 meters) will be fine. I'm sure your Kimber will be fine.

That Kimber with the 6-18X scope will be fine as long as the trigger is consistent and you are comfortable with it. I think there's a bit of an advantage for an upper master having an Anschutz match trigger versus a standard hunting trigger like is on a CZ or Kimber, but otherwise you should be fine. If you just have to spend money and can find ammo to spend it on, that's where it should go. Find a particular lot of ammo that the rifle shoots well out to 100 meters with and practice.
