FYI I was dead wrong about Sierra's tolerances I listened to another guy....their weights are held to .3 gr or less on match bullets and .6 gr on hunting bullets.....that has to do with closing the tip and exposing lead etc. I regret my error all two of 'em

One remaining thought on flat base bullets.....apparently the bench boys believe that since the flat base driving band is farther back it makes a better seal in the lands thus higher velocities etc etc ad nauseum. Probably their a decent choice for CPT

Did you shoot the Sierra 120gr SPT stock code 1900? My friend said he might have found some for me. They should be good for the chickens, rams and turkeys?

I've shot them at the close targets for years, at first in the 6.5 version and later in the 7mm version. If it's windy they get pushed around pretty bad at turkeys in either caliber, keep 20 ballistic tips in the same weight loaded in case the wind comes up for turkeys. The pro hunters work great for chickens{there close} and especially pigs because it's a wide target under all conditions. Varget or H335 work well in the 7-08 with these bullets.

Did you mean IMR4064? If so that is very close to Varget, the other powders are a little slow for 120's from the 7-08.

Whale, I do not use 120's on silhouette targets. At matches I use 130, 150 and 168 SMK's. For practice I shoot anything I can get cheap. Hornady seconds and rejects 139 gr. up to 175, and lots of Sierra 140 gr. #1905 and #1910 rejects from Sierra's in factory sales room. We stock up on them each time we head to the St.Louis HP regional. My last bunch is mostly shot up.

Yes, I meant IMR 4064. Sorry for the confusion. My friend bought me three more pounds last week. The other powders I have were for reloading a .300 win mag.

I like the Sierra 120's there cheaper than the match bullets and have less recoil than even the 130 matchkings. Any slight accuracy edge of the matckings will never be noticed offhand. Like I said before load some streamlined bullets and have zero's for them at turkeys in case of wind, on rams it's essential to use either 168 mk's or 162 a- maxes.
