I tried it years ago. Zero at turkeys seemed to work best.

chick - bottom of feet
pig - low window
turk - center
ram - top of horns + a little

You realy need a fixed point to aim at. Adjust your scope for each animal, pick a point on the animal, focus on that paint chip or something and bring the x hair to that point.

Even knowing the scope settings I till use a bit of Kentucky Windage. Shot a match last weekend in "high overcast light" and it seemed that most of my hits came when I held a bit high - so I used my known settings and tried to hold on the top of each animal. Worked well enough to win my class.
The sun will be different next month and I expect I'll need to readjust.

Snake, that would be a modified Kentucky windage using a different sight setting for each animal. I think he was asking what animal do you set your scope on to shoot ALL the animals.

We all have done minor corrections for light and wind during a string of shots. Some ranges require more than others. PeEll. not very much. Shortgrass and Rosebud a bunch.

Then your suggestions works.

Man - I really miss the Az weather. I shot every month when I lived in Tucson - Tucson, Rio Salada, Ben Avery. Now that I'm in St. louis we much less opportunity to shoot - it friggin snowed yesterday - in the middle of April!

Yea, now I know why we had so many snow-birds. I might be one of 'em one day.

I feel your pain. Snow at our range in April is as ridiculous as it would be in any other month.

Our range is a few hundred yards from the Pacific Ocean, and "consistently variable" 10-15 mph NE trade winds are the norm, swirling over a hopefully extinct volcano ridge and high berm from the 2-o'clock direction. Because of the variability of the wind (speed more than direction, although sometimes both), I gave up on trying to use the windage knob to dial in an offset.

I feel the need to keep a steady eye on the wind flags (upwind, to know what puffs are coming) and grass stalks/flowers nearer the target to help dial in my S.W.A.G. windage. By the time I re-set windage knob, the wind would change. I can't do it quick enough, nor have enough time to wait for the wind to return to what I just set it at... ~x(
