New scope

New to the sport one match convinced me to jump in! Learned I needed an equipment adjustment and promptly applied a new scope(Leupold vx3 8.5-25 target) to my Anschutz .22. Question, what's the best distance at which to zero the scope?

The chickens, 40 yards. Depending on your rings/height preference you are going to want to add a shim to the rear or get Burris insert rings. You want the scope zeroed in the lower 3rd of elevation travel and as close to the middle of windage travel as possible. Small bore silhouette is hard on the elevation turret and the erector system works best in the middle of the elevation/windage travels. If you are real close to the end of adjustment on the windage or elevation you will get a deflection of one or the other when adjusting. ie: a box test will look more like a oval....

If you prefer not to shim the rear, some scope mounts have the angle milled already, like these from DIP: https://www.diproductsinc.com/Products.aspx?CAT=3599

(Not sure which Annie you have, but I see several with 25MOA)
