Two stage trigger on an Anschutz 1710

Hello MS shooters,

I have been offered a great deal on a near new Anschutz 1710 rifle. I prefer the classic stock to that of the 1712. the only problem is that is comes with the regular single stage trigger.

is there any way I can fit one of the Anschutz two stage triggers to this? I see two different model triggers in their website. Any idea as to how much they will be as well?

I am keen to get back into MS shooting with a nice set-up.

Yes you can purchase and switch them easily, two screws hold the trigger assembly in. You can check with ISS, Neal Stepp 817-595-2090 on price.

Be sure and remove the bolt while you are switching the two triggers out. If it is an older 1710 it may have a two piece trigger guard with a narrow slot or a one piece trigger guard with a narrow slot that will not fit over the two stage trigger. You can take a die grinder(or something similar) and crudely enlarge the slot or put it on a milling machine and end mill a larger slot. I vote for the milling machine method especially since on the older one piece trigger guards you will have to cut back into the beefy part of the rear of the guard to have the full range of adjustment of the trigger blade. It has been years since I have done this but I think we used a 10 mm end mill. It looked factory done when we finished. Bluing was not harmed except inside the slot. I remember that I had to smooth the cut with a small file. I did not even touch up the cut with bluing because the cut area was not easily noticed.

Did the same thing on my 1702. Milled the trigger guard out and the 2 stage trigger fit right in.

Neal Stepp at ISS can convert the single stage to a two stage. You just mail the trigger and it will come back a 2 stage. As I recall the conversion was pretty affordable.

Since you're on the underside of this ball of rock, I'm not certain that dealing directly with Neal is practical? lol

The trigger on the 1710/1712 actually began life as a 2-stage design and was 'remade' into a single-stage by milling the first stage 'lump' off the staff.
If you have access to a good drill press or a mill (or a buddy who has one) you can convert the single-stage back to a 2-stage easily.
