Pharr stocked 1712 ?

I had my 1712 put in a Pharr stock by Evelio a couple years back. He made it like I ask and his work is perfect. When I got it back I took it out and sighted it in off a bench but didn't spend much time. I had other irons in the fire then crashed a couple horses, and gained some weight. I have been thinking about shooting in a match so I took it out yesterday to the range. Problem is I cant see thru my scope shooting offhand. I forced myself to try shooting by using allot of cheek pressure and pulling the stock into my face. Wasn't too long tell my back was killing me., still is today. My fat face needs to go to the right some more. So where do I go from here? Hey I ask for it. I m sure Beckley will tell me to loose some weight and shut up. Ha Ha

I tend to have the same problem. With the Pharr stock your best bet would be to raise your scope. I can't shoot my rifle at all with conventional height rings, but it fits well with a set of custom made high rings. Give it a try.

As a last resort, consider one of Wayne Merrier's stocks. Years ago he made one for me without a cheek piece that fit very well, the result was similar to cast off. I wish I would have kept it. If I was in the same position today I believe I would try one of the Wooster stocks, the diagrams I have seen suggest that his stocks have more lateral relief than the Pharr, on par with the Anschutz factory stock. I did not go through with that project though so can't say for sure.

The Pharr stocks are designed to let you mount your scope higher and therefore have your head more erect for better balance while still having cheek weld. What you're dealing with is expected and a good thing. You just need taller scope rings.
